I'm sure you figured out the problem by now, but if you haven't... You can't use a "High Speed Memory Stick on your psp. There is nothing wrong with the memory stick, it's just that the "High Speed Memory Sticks are not compatible with the psp. Just get a regular Memory Stick Pro Duo.
Here's what you do: COPY ALL OF THE DATA OFF THE PSP TO YOUR PC, GO TO SYSTEM INFORMATION AND PRESS FORMAT.

buy a 124 mb card it isint much. try that if that works it means tthat it is from you card. if not take it back to the owner and and tell him to change the internal cr.
ive got the best solution for ur psp problem.i had the same problems as u. so i went to the sony centre and asked, and the bloke that works there said to send it back to sony to fix this pro. so i sent it came back and was perfectly fine
if you have another memory stick try that and see if it works... that will tell you if its the unit or the memory stick thats not working... if the problem is with the memory stick then it could just be a problem with the data on the stick... to fix that all you need to do is format the memory stick from a computer, or run whatever disk utility you use to find problems...

Hey i kno the solution to your problem. when you put the memory card in the psp and the light keeps flashing take the memory card out blow in the spot on the psp where you put the memory card in and them put the memory card back in and if that still doesnt work take you memory card back out when you put it in dont take your hand off it just keep holding it is dont let it click in hold it there for about 5-10 seconds and it should work.. if still doesnt work leave me a message...

this also happen to me but I figured out how to fix it. but the thing is you need a PS3 to do it. you need to put it in the memory stick in the pro duo slot and got to system setting and then go to formattting memory stick. and there you have it.

Try takeing the battery out when the power is on. Leave the battery out for a couple minutes. Put the battery back in and turn on. Now insert memory stick. See if it works. Have you tried another memory stick? If another memory stick works you might be able to SALVAGE your bad MS by putting it in a card reader and formatting it. Any format will work. Then MUST reformat in PSP to work on PSP. You will LOSE all files on it of course. Let us know if you figured it out.
the format of the stick prob has been curpted try reformatting it with your computer and thats not the wifi light thats the light that tells you its trying to read or is reading the memory card since you got that light the psp is fine because it sees theres a card in the psp so if reformatting it dose not work then just buy a new one an stick the old one in the box an return it :P

Your memory stick might be fake, make sure it says Pro Duo. There are lots of fake memory sticks out there that says pro duo, so if you bought yours cheap then it could be fake. If you tried another memory stick and still doesn't work, replace the psp as soon as possible, hopefully your psp still has a 1 year warranty.

Speaking of problems, I had that Metal Gear PO hard skin case thing that came with the game on preorder, and it bent my psp's disc cover latch on the back a bit. The thing would not come off the back and I had to tug it, I read the instructions and all and it wouldn't work. It was pretty useless seeing how it didn't do anything to protect my psp's screen, every place was covered besides the screen.
Try formatting the stick to FAT. That might fix it. Mine is kinda fucked. I got dat square button problem where it seems to not align properly with the faceplate, but im returning it tomorrow for a new one.
The reader isn't busted. The memory stick is. The same thing happened to me using a memory stick I bought through QXL. Try another stick if you have one available.

Use recovery to downgrade to 1.50. Insert the memory stick and it SHOULD tell you that it cannot be read. Format the memory stick and you're done!

i think you just need to format the card
just go to system settings then format via
the psp not on your computer or it will wipe the dir's like music, movie folders ect
your psp seems fine as its detecting the card and flashing indicator tels its trying to read the contents
however game saves ect and other stuff sometimes corrupts the data and leaves the card unreadable
if it dosnt work formatting via the psp
then do it with your computer

That's not your wifi flashin... your psp is tryin to read the stick... your wifi lights is the bottom green one

The reader isn't busted. The memory stick is. The same thing happened to me using a memory stick I bought through QXL. Try another stick if you have one available.
