So.. how hard is it to get a hydralisk den anyway? Cause last i checked, hydras were fairly powerful, and could shoot air, and yet zerg spends half the game not getting them and instead spending money on units that arnt actually useful in defending because they cant mass up any quantity of them and just send thems in one or two at a time to die. Protip: zerglings dont actually counter air.

the terrans have huge advantage in this map. mine a little, place barracks, but pick up and move to island. Zerg don't get air till waaay later in the game, and you can just smash their base from behind with vikings. it also avoids the annoying zerg kill groups. a beat a zerg player with 3 bases, i only had 1, cuz i had the air, and thats the only way he could get to my base.

Well, you're doing the right thing, watching vids and playing matches. The most important thing is to KEEP PLAYING if you actually want to get better. It's uncomfortable, but everytime you lose to something like a 4-gate push or banshee rush, your brain starts to learn that pattern, and your "game sense" gets better.

Also, watch Day[9], he's GREAT for getting better at starcraft, if you have the time to watch.

Over time, everyone's win/loss will eventually be between 40% and 60%. This is because if you have a win% of around 60%, you're going to get promoted soon. If you only have around 40%, you will get demoted soon. If you have a really low win% now, it only means you might have to play some extra games over the course of a few weeks to get back to around 50%... but past losses are by no means something that will keep you out of diamond.
