I am 16 and I also have Vitiligo. I have had a patch of white hair right in the front of my widows peak, about everywhere i go people tell me i have something in my hair. When i first meet someone their always looking up at my hair instead of at me. I don't really mind i think its unique and kind of cool. i just hope it don'st get any worse on my face. Had it for almost forty years and yeah, people will say the most uncalled for things, even complete strangers. I forget I have it until some person asks something like "What's that on your knees"? I usually just say the first thing that pops into my head, "I had an accident, or I was burned or I'm turning white or have vitiligo" when I feel like an explanation is warrented.
I just found out my five year old daughter has vitiligo too she has been getting grey hairs on just one side of her head too!Soo crazy,and the whitening only happens on the same side of her face too.You guys crack me up though!!

@ kylesflipvids I definitely agree man, you get down about it sometimes. When even your close friends take a while to ask about it even though its clear is a little frustrating. But they are just curious so its all good. Also everyone who is concerned about it, it is the summer and I don't let it keep me from enjoying the out of doors, but I did learn to remember to wear some good sunblock around your affected areas in the summer. Affected areas are less noticeable towards the end of summer.
My boyfriend has vitiligo and although he says he's gotten paler, I haven't noticed it. But he just gets so down about his appearance, he honestly can't look himself in the mirror which hurts me like hell to notice. I love him and I hope oneday he can see how really great he is. It is about and inch wide and goes vertically down my forehead, my eyebrow is white, and my eyelashes. It has also started to affect my hair. Did you ever use any treatments? I have been suffering from leucoderma for quite long since my childhood.
I have tried many products from internet but they result in vein. Few months ago I have found information from health forum about Vitiligo Tabs from Speedy Herb Care.
It is the Vitiligo medication process without having any harmful side effects and after continuous use of 5 weeks (2 tablets thrice a day) now I am getting good results.

I started getting Vitiligo when I was nine, it was just a white splotch on my left leg. I'm 16 now and have big splotches on my left leg and I have it on the skin around my left eye. I'm not embarrassed but I can't really wear shorts because people are like "Ew, is that a fungus?!" and it's kind of tiring. I wear sunglasses but that's just because it's easier to get Skin Cancer if you have Vitiligo and cancer really seems to like my family. Of course I'm stressed a lot too...Ugh!
just wear your shorts... and enjoy the fact your original..... as far as the cancer goes I know the fear of it..... cancer runs in my family too....soooo it does worry me a little but i can't live in fear.... ya know...thanks for watching
Well the fun part is that when they ask if it's a Fungus I say yes. Then if they're wearing shorts I'll rub my leg on theirs and they freak out. It's amazing! So yeah, it definitely has it's up sides.

You don't have to be black to have vitiligo. It effects people of ALL races. Even white people have some skin color in their skin. It is a fairer and lighter color than blacks but it is there. The white color the skin turns when it has vitiligo is not just "white people" white; its like printer paper porcelain doll white.
Anyone can have it; whites, black, asians, mexicans, EVERYEONE.
Blacks with vitiligo are just more noticeable for obvious reasons.
I also have Vitiligo and I actually have a lock of white hair although it's at the back of my head. So I only get the weird reactions from the people that cut my hair.
Some can be quite rude which I could suck their life out of them :P Rogue!!
honestly i guess i'm pretty lucky with my vitiligo, if i don't try to tan my skin I'm normally ok, cause i'm pretty fair complected.... vitiligo has taken a big toll on my self esteem, but i've just kinda learned to laugh at it... hell i'm a blast at a black light party :)

It's really hard sometimes but I try to think positively and feel special.
I have never really thought of doing anything about it, find a cure and such.
I grew up with it and it's a part of me I guess.

It is about and inch wide and goes vertically down my forehead, my eyebrow is white, and my eyelashes. It has also started to affect my hair. Did you ever use any treatments? Did they work for you at all?

HAHA. I have vitiligo too. at least you have a sense of humor about it. im half white and half ecuadorian. My dad always says my body dosent know if it wants to be white or ecuadorian which i think is halarious. i think people with vitiligo should feel special because i do. lol

i have a small birthmark on my chin its a black dot ppl keep telling me i have dirt on my face. its gets annoyinn but im not to bothered about it :)

I have been suffering from leucoderma for quite long since my childhood.

ive got vitiligo too.Its not in my eyelashes but i no it can spread there. It clearly doesnt bother you which is great, u cud wear mascara to overcome it, or just get a spray tan.

I started getting Vitiligo when I was nine, it was just a white splotch on my left leg. I'm 16 now and have big splotches on my left leg and I have it on the skin around my left eye. I'm not embarrassed but I can't really wear shorts because people are like "Ew, is that a fungus?!" and it's kind of tiring. I wear sunglasses but that's just because it's easier to get Skin Cancer if you have Vitiligo and cancer really seems to like my family. Of course I'm stressed a lot too...Ugh!

Well the fun part is that when they ask if it's a Fungus I say yes. Then if they're wearing shorts I'll rub my leg on theirs and they freak out. It's amazing! So yeah, it definitely has it's up sides.

Garlic and onions are good for colds and great for the body in general.
I eat a whole blub of garlic every few month. It cleans the blood and I can actually see my skin "glow" when I do it.
Chicken is bad and shouldn't be eaten, just like all meat.
Make the "chicken soup" without the chicken.

You don't have to be black to have vitiligo. It effects people of ALL races. Even white people have some skin color in their skin. It is a fairer and lighter color than blacks but it is there. The white color the skin turns when it has vitiligo is not just "white people" white; its like printer paper porcelain doll white.
Anyone can have it; whites, black, asians, mexicans, EVERYEONE.
Blacks with vitiligo are just more noticeable for obvious reasons.

I also have Vitiligo and I actually have a lock of white hair although it's at the back of my head. So I only get the weird reactions from the people that cut my hair.
Some can be quite rude which I could suck their life out of them :P Rogue!!

Im white, but a little darker (eastern european) so its not as noticeable, at least everyone says that, but I sure notice it!
Im still dealing with the idea of living with this f*cking "disease."
I feel like one of those brown cows with the white spots, or is it the other way around?

honestly i guess i'm pretty lucky with my vitiligo, if i don't try to tan my skin I'm normally ok, cause i'm pretty fair complected.... vitiligo has taken a big toll on my self esteem, but i've just kinda learned to laugh at it... hell i'm a blast at a black light party :)

I think we need to tint your lashes.... balance things out. I need to practice more and I think you'd be a good tester...I'll go get the peroxide. Bwahahahahaha
I have a belly button that goes on forever and ever. I even had a friend get a torch and check to make sure I wouldn't lose stuff down there, (unwanted lint) and we still couldn't find an end... :( It's like the the bottomless pit in Indiana Jones, or like a black hole in space.
