What are the exact product names and sizes for your exhaust system? The catalytic converter on my '89 IROC is toast and instead of replacing it I'm going to get a whole new system put in, and I'm quite impressed by the sound your getting out of yours.

@roydied15 Poorly maintained 3rd gens are unreliable but the design flaws are really easily remedied. (Dont run earth to headders). Mine does not really handle all that well compared to a modern car and it runs out of puff at well below 4800rpm. I don't think it even outsold mustangs (fords direct counter). But one thing for sure, stock on stock that era iroc smokes that era stang. If you didn't know then you have no business talking from a position of knowledge on cars. PS you fiddle dogs.

flowmaster uses there 80 series muffler in there system for this car and there is hardly no drone inside the car.. and for u magnflow guys ask ur magnaflow rep if there shit has a pattend on it.. haha nope they dont thats why cherrybomb is coppying there crap.. flowmaster mufflers all have pattens.. and look at all the dyno sheets on there website no magnoflow out performes a flowmaster.. they might on a flowbench but when ur on a full chassi dyno they dont out perform..

The current one has a magnaflow....the new one has more miles on the engine and still performs better with the magnaflow muffler. It's performance boost was noticable. The flowmaster sounder better, but didn't add any noticable performance...I'm speaking of my experience only though.

@ubcs109 Drone is that annoying sound that a loud muffler makes inside the cab; Sometimes it gives u a headache or gets u in bad mood. From my experience my Flowmaster gave a lot of drone. It sounded good outside but I ended hating it for the drone inside. You know like when you listen to loud music and sometimes the thumping of the loud noise bothers you??That's how drone feels. It's better to have a muffler that has a moderate sound outside and is quiet inside. Louder muffler = more drone
@ubcs109 Also I believe that chambered mufflers(Flowmaster)give more drone than a straight through muffler(magnaflow) with some exceptions based on muffler technology or size( smaller mufflers are generally louder) or packing material used in some straight through mufflers like glasspacks which are straight through but have fiber glass which sounds louder.

The exhaust may look dual, and actually be single, but its a real exhaust, not fake... exhaust fumes come out of both pipes. Now, I think the guy asking about "Fake Dual" got his answer, its not a "True Dual" exhaust. Its a "Y-piped or single exhaust." True dual exhaust is not an issue to convert to... its just a matter of buying the mandrel bends and having an exhaust shop weld it up.

@16drips just letting you in on some insight unless those gaurds have a the DOT wording SOMEWHERE on them that is visible they may be illegal and you may be cited for tamporing with the brightness and visibillity of your brake lights. Though i also have to admit that it makes your rides look great, you are taking a risk for safety and trouble with the law, though this has been debated for a while IMO its not worth the head ache and the money you will get from this but you know just some insight

@Ratmouth66 you could take out all the sound deadening an dinsulation stuff... and drive with your windows down all the time, that's about the best you can do to hear the car more from the inside.
Truth also is Magnaflow have a better cfm flow then Flowmasters because there are no baffles inside Magnaflow they are straight pipe through.The droning is cause by the baffles and restrict air flow. Magnaflow FTW .
hi can someone help me?, my dad took out the starter to get it fixed, then i putted it back but i dont know how the wires go. the solenoid has three screws one big the other 2 little and there are also three cables with an "eye" at the end and i know they go in those screws but the thing is that 2 of the cables have a big "eye" the other has a little one, wich one goes where? three screws 1 big 2 lil and wires 2 big "eyes" and 1 little please let me know

Magnaflow is a good choice. I used to be a flowmasters fan just because it was all I knew. My buddy had an LS1 Maro and it had a Magnaflow catback, no mufflers though but it sounded awesome outside, and it was still quite bearable on the inside.
I have a 1988 GTA Trans Am and I was wondering if you (or anyone else who views this comment) knows if the magnaflow muffler number you gave me would fit it. It's stock except for the muffler itself, which is a cheesy knockoff flowmaster that the previous owner put on it. Let me know.
@JHartlove i dont see why it wouldnt. most parts that fit the IROC's will fit the GTA's as well. over all they are very similar except for the exterior. I just got a new Magnaflow exhaust myself along with some new hooker competition headers. My IROC has a knockoff flowmaster on it too lol

Truth also is Magnaflow have a better cfm flow then Flowmasters because there are no baffles inside Magnaflow they are straight pipe through.The droning is cause by the baffles and restrict air flow. Magnaflow FTW .

hi can someone help me?, my dad took out the starter to get it fixed, then i putted it back but i dont know how the wires go. the solenoid has three screws one big the other 2 little and there are also three cables with an "eye" at the end and i know they go in those screws but the thing is that 2 of the cables have a big "eye" the other has a little one, wich one goes where? three screws 1 big 2 lil and wires 2 big "eyes" and 1 little please let me know

Georgous 3rd gen man! Usually they are beaten to hell with a ton a problems and a mullet wearing nascar fan behind the wheel that's still stuck in the 80's lol. Nice job looks clean!

Magnaflow is a good choice. I used to be a flowmasters fan just because it was all I knew. My buddy had an LS1 Maro and it had a Magnaflow catback, no mufflers though but it sounded awesome outside, and it was still quite bearable on the inside.

I have a 1988 GTA Trans Am and I was wondering if you (or anyone else who views this comment) knows if the magnaflow muffler number you gave me would fit it. It's stock except for the muffler itself, which is a cheesy knockoff flowmaster that the previous owner put on it. Let me know.

@JHartlove i dont see why it wouldnt. most parts that fit the IROC's will fit the GTA's as well. over all they are very similar except for the exterior. I just got a new Magnaflow exhaust myself along with some new hooker competition headers. My IROC has a knockoff flowmaster on it too lol
