Only time he uses a finger slide in any song that I'm aware of and it's as if no one else even knows how to use them. I'd say as far as rock goes the only other slide song that comes close is something like marshall tucker, fire on the mountain or something along those lines..
This is great stuff! Schenker killed on the solo! Paul Raymond shows here, just why he continues to retain the MVP award. Displaying killer guitar chops/technique, keyboard mastery, and sings as well? Try that one at home! This sounds like a band. Not a collection of egos, awaiting their turn at the wheel.
This has been one of my all-time favorite UFO songs! Thanks for posting so many cool vids! The first time I saw UFO was July 1979 on the SITN tour and they opened with this...Paul Chapman had replaced Michael by this time but just killed anyways...what an awesome night...and to top it off, AC/DC was the opening band supporting their If You Want Blood, You Got It (LIVE) album...Bon Scott and company tore it up as well! Great footage of Paul Raymond here too...listen to his parts...so cool!
Hi there, M - no, it wasn't on the set list, but they've got such an extensive array of material to draw from at this point that they can't play it all on stage. And the best part is that judging from Mogg's energy at 60, they've still got many years ahead of them.
This is Mikey demonstrating his mastery of one of the the slide. So many guitar players take it for granted and ignore it when it is often more beautiful than million mile an hour riffs.
I share the same feeling,Schenker is still great but I prefer the Gibson sound,I remember you mentoned having Phil Mogg at your home as a guest, what a honor that must have been, thnx for all your inputs chefjameso!
I have recently gotten a Dean Inferno V.I know its not Michael Schenker model. The Deans of today are far superior to the Gibsons of today( I also purchased a Gibson V at the same time and have since sold it keeping the Dean). I know I liked his sound with the 1970s V(especially the medalion model)But the Dean is great guitar IMHO. Just FYI one of mikes gibsons is for sale at the bay now.

I saw them regroup in 1995 for the Walk On Water tour but I didn't know Schenker was still with them in 1998.
ojib62 3 years ago
Schenker quit after '95 & rejoined again in '98 & quit again during the 1998 Japan tour!
there was the UFO Reunion tour, the Walk on Water tour & the 1998 tour which was the final one, maybe another reunion?
since Schenker is back on top again & the die hard fans are still out there!
