I'm glad I have been able to help you understand the workings of the pelvic floor. It is difficult to understand and it is often not explained well enough. It is extremely important in Pilates as it forms part of the core so must be done properly.
As a male beginner Pilates student, I've had trouble understanding how to engage the pelvic floor. This is by far the clearest explanation I've seen. This along with your lateral breathing video are helping my practice immensely. I still have some trouble isolating the three different areas mentioned, but now I know how it would feel. I especially appreciate you mentioning the 30% strength, which was really helpful, as I often do TOO much, I think. Thank you so much!
I would very much doubt it and I am not in a position to comment. Ideally you should be assessed by a medical professional such as a physiotherapist or osteopath if you think you may have a tilted pelvis and they could diagnose the problem for you.
Thanks, I have actually been diagnosed and am on muscular therapy for some tensions, my therapist also suggested I try Pilates since she feels I have some lack of strenght in my core.
is it uncommon that a 20 yr old has to do these moves?
