  • cute....

  • I totally understand what you are saying about choosing a cat that needs a home. we have 2 rescue cats, but we have also have an F2 Chausie. He has a wonderful temperament for an Alpha. He has never hissed or tried to scratch any humans and he is completely devoted to one member of the household. He makes the mow/yow sound like in your video and he is social. I'm glad we have him.

  • @MusicLoverSB There are exceptions to the rule, where did you get your chausie cat from and how much was he?

  • @BigCatRescue Hi: My husband got Rufus, our F2, from a breeder. I know this is something you guys don't like, but I didn't buy Rufus. I'm allergic to cats! And Rufus has an especially potent protein in his saliva that will give anyone the itchy eye. Not as bad as a siamese, but close enough. But I digress. As I write this, Rufus has nuzzeled my face and accepted hugs from me as a sign he wants to sleep in my lap. He does snore by the way.

  • I wonder if it would be a good idea to try to start jungle cat populations in the jungles of South America. The biggest risk would be them fitting in TOO well and wiping out other species there.

    Oh well, just a thought.

  • i had baby one was black whith grey hoop spots i gave it away

  • I have a cat that looks very similar to this species? of cat. It's an Abyssinian and some of the faces that the Jungle Cats have look jut like my Walker's face :)

  • What ??!! People do actually cross-breed this wild cat with a normal cat ?? Man, there's really no limit to the stupidy and arrogance of some people....

  • So where can i pick one of these things up?

  • mau mau mau!! mauuuUUuuuu...... =)

  • mow mow :D now i came to know about another wild cat! thanx BCR!

  • Awww this cat is so cute!! (I don't want one in my house; but still, Mow...mow...I love that noise!! XD)

  • I want one to guard my house.

I mean, my Russian Blue already has that responsibility, but imagine a burglar coming in and seeing a cat the size of a labrador staring him/her down.

  • human beings always fucked it all :S

  • I hate breeders of hybrids.

  • Scott is quite sexy. Nice voice too.

  • I can't agree with his views on hybridisation. If you look at some of the products of hybridization with wild species, like the bengal cats or ashirahs, you can see that there are any number of happy cats which offer a variety of temperaments for different types of owner.

  • @usenetposts These are the few cats that are the exception to the rule, what happens to all the unwanted hybrid cats with the wrong temperaments or looks???

  • @BigCatRescue They don't carry on breeding hybrids if they know it doesn't work, but of course they need to try. But the cat which emerges must surely find someone who loves it. For every cat there's someone who will love it. Remember that every single cat comes from a wild animal and still is pretty much a wild animal. Are you saying the same about all the domestic cats, or do the slips that occurred in getting to today's domesticated cat not matter? Bengals emerged from research to help cats.

  • @usenetposts Of course they don't have to try...are hybrid cats and endangered species? No they are a man made animal, all the unwanted cats are disposed of they are not found loving homes because nobody wants them. We're well aware that domestic cats are a result of thousands of years of domestication, this doesn't mean that we need to try and domesticate every wild animal we can or to breed new hybrid animals to cater to the egos of certain people.

  • @BigCatRescue I don't entirely disagree with you and if I thought that we could meaningfully protect habitats in the longterm I would not even still be discussing, but the sad fact remains that right now, the only way to guarantee the protection of an animal is to domesticate it. And people love all these hybrid cats so much they are willing to spend tremendous money to get them, like Savannah cats and Ashiras. Even mis-hybridised cats are not going to be without a home.

  • @usenetposts Hybrids don't need protecting they are man made animals and are not real species. There are many organizations that protect and breed species of cats, there is no need for big cats to be privately owned. There are many hybrid cats that go without finding a home, people realize they are still very much wild in most cases, the savannah cat we rescue was abandoned for example. No wild species of big cats will ever be domesticated.

  • @BigCatRescue I have an F2 Chausie cat and he absolutely loves being with humans. When our other cats run away when a doorbell rings, he actually runs to the door to greet whoever is behind it. So I don't know if that is a rare quality in a hybrid cat or not since you said that a lot of them don't like to be in homes.

  • Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute........................I hope I will finally get to see one next time I come visit.

  • How pretty! The look so much like domestic cats.

  • Their diurnal? Hmm... on the internet it says their nocturnal.

  • @faredatur which website?

  • Wow, they are really pretty. Too bad we can't have NICE and GENTLE domestic cats that are that cool looking (not the mean ones like he mentioned). The stripes and spots they have when they are younger would be an added plus in the adult stage of a domestic cat. =D They're neat. ^_^

  • Holy crap, why is that cat so vicious looking? Even the tiger are friendlier then the Jungle Cats!!!

  • Aw. Their cries are cute but I can imagine they'd get annoying real quick

  • wooow look @ those eyes @ 1:03

    nice vid thanks

  • Do you ive your smaller cats live food such as rats, mice? or is that not aloud.

I think it be much better for the cats if you do.

  • @staceysimba No it would be cruel and unnecessary, we only feed live prey to bobcats that we rehab and release back into the wild etc... :)

  • wouldnt the need for a jungle cat from breeders help in its preservation?

  • @beermilitia from an accredited zoo maybe, but introductions to the wild are very rarely done, what needs to be done is to conserve habitat, educate local people etc... if this can be done the cats will take care of themselves and bounce back no problem :)

  • Ya know, with the behavior pattern of my cat and her size, I sometimes wonder if some knucklehead didn't crossbreed somewhere in her genetic history.

Anyway, I love the species spotlight and I wish you did more of these! I am a partial owner of a car site and we have an "outdoors" area. I keep the "wildlife" part of that and I always grab yoru species spotlight videos to link there. Hope you don't mind!

  • @apharot More spotlights on the way! Please share our videos wherever you can the more exposure we get to our cause the better! Thanks!

  • most cats are crepuscular, not nocturnal. (yes, i know all)

  • there is nothing wrong with owning a small wild cat they have never been known of killing anyone like a dog or a large cat so i say get one if you have the money like a serval

  • @EnemyOfTheState1 Obviously it's not a matter of if the cat can kill someone (they can definitely do damage, especially if a child is involved) It's a matter of if it's right to do so...which it is not! The cats always suffer, they are wild animals!

  • @BigCatRescue any animal can do damage to a child so you cant say wild animals do damage because i have not found any info that backs up what you say about small cats like servals, jungle cats, or any other small wild cats

  • @EnemyOfTheState1 Any wild species of cat or "domestic" for that matter can injure someone if they feel like it, we have a serval who attacked a 3 year old child and then was no longer wanted by the family. I'll say it AGAIN....It's a matter of if it's right to own these animals...which it is not! The cats always suffer, they are wild animals!

  • @BigCatRescue how do they suffer in captivity if they live longer and are healther then in the wild

  • @EnemyOfTheState1 It's a poor quality of life no matter what you do or provide for them in captivity, compared to being out in the wild with new places to explore each day.

  • @BigCatRescue There are plenty of them that live happily in homes....better than in some cage if you ask me! They get alot more attention that way, who wants to live in a zoo?

  • @hannahdevane23 I know if I were a wild cat I'd rather be outside in a natural setting than in someone's living room!

  • @BigCatRescue i bet more domestic cats and dogs have hurt more people then a small wild cat and lets not bring up a child because not many animals like a child, a child does not know how to handle an animal

  • @EnemyOfTheState1 Obviously there are many more domestic cats and dogs in homes!

  • Awesome video! How many years do they live? 15-16 like domestic cats or more?

  • @vfotn7 In the wild, cats live around 10-12 years in captivity you can double this :) We had one cougar named Scratch who lived to be 29!

  • thank you for encouraging the adoption of shelter cats. there are far too many homeless kitties in this country to be breeding cats that will be miserable indoors

  • i just took out a loan to buy a diamond collar for my F1 toygerpantherannah rollsroyce cat,

I only allow it to drink crystal out of crystal bowl, Im thinking about breeding it with a serval that i imported from some diamond trader in somali

  • 1:30 i agree

  • I do have something to say in response to hybrid cats. The reason people make hybrid animals whether they be cats, dogs, horses, reptiles, or whatever is because often times they will recieve qualities from both parents that make them desirable. Alot of breeders of savannah cats and chausie cats also have breeding programs for servals and jungle cats, so they are increasing those populations as well.

  • @humanpotential7 These wild cats will never be released back in to the wild, so they are breeding them to make a profit with no interest in conservation of the species, just how much they can sell them for.

  • @BigCatRescue People want these animals just to be "cool".

It's rediculous, and lacks in common sense and wisdom.

Owning something beautiful does not make YOU beautiful. Humans will never understand that. They continue to want and want and want.

I'm glad you push against this type of nonsense.

    Thank You Very Much.

  • I like this video because it focuses again on a small species of cat as oppose to the larger panthera cats... however speaking of the panthera cats, I know that you guys have lions, tigers, and leopards but what about jaguars?

  • @humanpotential7 Glad you enjoyed the video, we don't currently have jaguars at BCR.

  • I don't get people who want some half wild exotic cat! It's VERY irresposible and just a desire to impress your friends probably. If a person truly cares about cats/felines they will take a normal domestic cat, there are SO many amazing cat breeds and so many lovely companion cats, and try to actually help preserve these beautiful wild cats IN their natural enviroment.

Not breeding them with domestic cats to make some bizarre hybrid animals! Humans need to STOP destroying everything in their way!

  • OMG! It looks like my cat!! ;)

  • Sorry, but the statement about the hybrid cats peeing on everything and not wanting to be in your home is bullshit. I do agree we should look for our pets in the shelter, and I'm not all that thrilled about hybrids, but for all the people--including several good friends of mine--who own hybrids, you are undercutting our case by making such blatantly false statements. There are so many better ways to make our argument. You are not helping!

  • @StevenShields29 True there are the occasional hybrids that aren't that problematic, but these are definitely the exception to the rule, breeding these hybrids is also not natural/healthy and what happens to all the unwanted offspring that remain wild???

  • lol to the maw maw maw sound.. !! it's cute especially when i was expecting to hear that after your explanation!

  • I could sit and listen to them saying "maw maw maw" all day, its so cool!

  • great video! i wish people would go to the shelter and save these beautiful creatures. at the shelter up the road they had to put down like 70 or so last month. it's horrible! if i could i would take in all strays! yes fancy and exotic cats are beautiful but they tabys and tom toms are just as beautiful. i loved how Tarzan stuck his tounge out half way through the video! i can't wait to come visit!

  • ...amazing with its spotted markings and white spots on the back of its ears. It look entirely different from these adults in your video. I have been looking for more info about how they are as adults but this is the best I have found. Its amazing how much its like a domestic cat other than its makings and its amazing strength. They found it in a mountain field and asume its mother was killed by hunters. I wish it luck and hope to get the chance to play with it again for years to come. Unlikely.

  • I live in Thailand and know a hilltribe girl that has a Jungle cat kitten that she is trying to raise domestically. These people are known to be some of the best hunters in the world but I don't think they have a good understanding of doing good for an animal. The girl is very sweet with it and it seems to love and trust her, but the others around like to tease and scare it. I am not convinced it will have a long life as they will likely eat it if it gets out of hand. At this point, it is am...

  • And they go "maw, maw maw" LMAO!!!!

  • how do you tell the diffrence between them all?

  • I guess it just takes time, to get to know their face, just knowing which cat is in what enclosure :)

  • I know tons of people with JC Hybrids as well and they all agree that they are excellent pets that do not pee on things and are not mean or scary animals. Have you guys ever had a JC hybrid? They are very different that the JC itself. They are loyal, silly playful animals that are easily trainable. You can be against something, we all have that right, but to say they shouldn't exist when they do I don't get simply because if it were not to be it wouldn't be possible.

  • this guy is wicked sexy. What he said about the hybrid is a lie. I have one and he has NEVER peed on anything. Another lie is that they are mean. My cat is the most affectionate loving animal that I have EVER had. I am not trying to start online arguments (hate those) but if you are against hybrid cats that is fine but do not use such fear tactics to scare people away from them. t

  • Maybe your cat is the exception to the rule!? We are definitely against the breeding of hybrid cats, they shouldn't exist.

  • @BigCatRescue But honestly, you have got to tell the truth! People like the one you are responding to knows the statements you make in this video are false. I'll bet she or he has friends that own these cats. Do you really think anyone is going to believe you? (BTW, filtering comments that challenge your point of view does not help your credibility!)

  • @StevenShields29 Hi, sorry I've lost what conversation we were having, we are telling the truth however as we do in all our videos.

  • @BigCatRescue I agree they cost ridiculous amounts of money and I'd far rather have a properly domesticated cat. Rescuing cats is a great idea, there are so many pets in need of a good home and people are just breeding more and more :(

  • It looks just like a domestic cat! Incredible! Also, I agree on the fact you should get a cat from a shelter. I got Oliver from a shelter 9 years ago.

  • WOW! That a new cat to know.

  • do you guys have jaguarundi's?

  • No, we mostly have cats but have 3 binturongs, a few civets and a cavy also :) Thanks for watching!

  • Mao mao mao mao lol So cute. And the history of the Jungle cats being mummified, is interesting.

  • Hey now Ive got house cats but the door is always open. They could go forever if they want but return for food/shelter/love. (they hunt) Im surrounded by forest and no humans- in this case a "wild" hybrid cat should be at home no?

  • These hybrid cats don't exist in the wild.

  • Great idea about these species spotlights! I love learning about new species of animals, especially exotic cats! BTW, I loved the kitty noises at 1:55 - cute! It's very sad to hear about this species being endangered. I was educated through your wonderful site about this species being used to cross breed with domestic cats - that's just WRONG....

  • i want to help these wonderful cats

  • People just don't make any sense to me sometimes.

The jungle cat is beautiful by the way!

Didn't even know they existed until now :O

  • But your IN florida. ...

guess they know roads are bad...that's good.

  • hi i was just wondering?

are caracals or servals endangered because i love them!

  • Hi, they are not classed as endangered yet, but are definitely threatened, like most big cats, loss of habitat, poaching etc..

  • this is probably a weird question, but do you guys have Florida Panthers there?

  • We have many cougars/pumas/mountain lions/panthers, they're all basically the same species. But we haven't got any true florida panthers no :)

  • Okay, thank you!

  • i love these species spotlights! theyre such beautiful little cats :3 i hope we wise up and find ways to prevent them from going extinct!

  • aww their soo cute

  • uh it makes me so sick to see this beyond beautiful and amazing creature and then hear that it is endangered because of habitat loss and silly people cross breading and doing stupid things. these animals really are adorable and interesting <3

  • OMG THATS MY CAT ................well he likes being in side but we had to get rid of him hes prob in a zoo now

  • Now finally I have a favourite kind of cat.

    Like them... :D Great vids

    [/SPAM]

  • Thanks for watching, RAMBO is my favorite :)

  • Beautiful cats

  • 2:26 :p

My cat does that sometimes its cute. It is unfortunate that people are trying to bring them back in to the domestic category.

I want to ask tho. What makes a cat domestic? Why would they have to cross breed? Couldn't they just (hopefully not) get them as kittens and raise them up to be use to humans?

  • Domestic cats have been domesticated for thousands of years and even a lot of these cats can be vicious! Cats like the jungle cat will always have those wild instincts and wouldn't be safe to own as a "pet" because of this.

  • I've noticed that some of the cats make clicking noises when they hiss, do you have any idea what that is?

  • It's just the air being forced out there throat at a very fast speed!

  • "MOW MOW WOW" lol...love scott's impression:) never heard of these cats until now! very interesting. and sad that their habitat is being destroyed.

  • RAMBO is the best at making this noise, very funny to hear it coming from him!

  • wow, their just amazing animals.

  • Those cats look like us!

  • beautiful cat, looks like a exotic house cat! haha

  • cha cha??

lol jk! just another victim of human greed and stupidity... it's really a shame...

  • hey i saw you on animal planet the other day!!!

  • What show was that? This is Chris the video guy :)

  • i beleive it was untamed and uncut cuz i saw the bigcat rescue logo on his shirt so yeah.

  • Yep, that sounds right Scott as been in quite a few episodes of that show :)

  • lol but yea just wanted 2 add a comment on that so see u later:)

  • oh and i had to take a double take on the logo lol:)

  • Thank you for taking care of them and for the information. I learned something new.

  • Thanks for watching!

  • Wonderful video. Glad to see the jungle cat highlighted. I was very lucky to see one in the wild in India and even luckier to be assigned to Rambo for operant conditioning.

  • Seeing one in the wild must of been a cool experience!

  • It was; certainly as much as seeing the tigers. Sightings are so rare and I was the one who spotted him!

  • Wow pretty cool cats man.

  • Are they relatives with caracals? Both of them look like that they are familiar. Colours, short tails, behaviours, sharp ended ears etc.?

  • No not really they are both in a different lineage so they're not closely related :)

  • I love this speicies spotlight series! This week's was interesting; you don't hear much about the Jungle Cat. I never knew it was diurnal.

  • I love these spotlight videos! I only thought I loved Big Cats but come to find out there were a lot of species I was unaware of, Thanks for teaching everyone about the lesser known small cats. :)

  • 2:22 nice teeth :))) and I love 1:50 MAO :-D

Your jungle cats are really beautiful

  • Wow. What a bootiful boot!

  • It makes me sick to my stomach that siberian tigers are almost gone. What the hell are they doing over there in Russia to protect those tigers? Poachers need to be given the death penalty. It sickens me that those tigers are almost gone and no one seems to be doing anything about these worthless poachers/hunters.

  • ;_; is all I can say

  • i want one

  • My old cat used to look like a jungle cat, He sounded like them too. but he was mean, a bad boy XD

  • These guys and girls are mean too!

  • Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you for continuing your wonderful goal to show us the Little Big Cats! These guys are fascinating. Jungle cats are really interesting! I can see how our house cats may have them as ancesters. I hope people see how precious they are to preserve in the wild!

And thanks for helping people to see that adopting domestic cats is like adopting a miniature big cat, but one who is fit for living with humans. One of my cats is like a tiny African wild cat but so sweet!

  • very cute

  • I am planning on adopting a shelter cat soon! I've never heaerd of the Jungle Cat before though...it makes interesting sounds!

  • That sounds good, it's sad that so many are euthanized each month because homes cannot be found for them. Thanks for watching!

  • Great job!

  • yea i hate those douches that spend a fortune to buy an exotic cat at a species' expense.

  • i liked the part with the cat

    GO KITTEH!!!

  • Which part?

  • Kinda, Rambo makes this noise all the time, funny :)

  • those are cool cats!

  • good stuff. they also have cute lil' housecat like poop which makes them hard to track in the wild :)

  • Those are some beautiful cats.

And that mow mow mow is awesone lol

  • Splendid video!!!

    Keep up the good work!!!!

  • Thanks, we will!

  • These big cats are surely in good hands!!! =)

  • i reckon we should take genetic samples of 1000 animals of the same species of Evey species of the world, just so in case anything does happen, such as extinction, they can be resurrected in the future different each animal in the world

  • i pity poor cats, hybirds dun get accepted by their parents (moms r VERY important cos for milk), their homes r gone, prey is scarce...its so sad... I hope humans will go green 4 all the animals bcus of habitat loss...may they hav a good time in BCR.

  • I don't think you guys showed much about leopards though. Videos about tigers and lions are everywhere.

  • You could be right there we'll try and do more leopard/cougar videos in the future :)

  • I am so thrilled to see such a cute jungle cat. They really look like a normal house cat.

I really think we should populate more jungle cats even if they are in captivity. I know it's cruel but at least it's better than seeing these amazing species dying out. Some scientists determined to preserve endanerous animals' tissues, cells or DNA in order to help create these species in case they all extinct. I think it's very evil to do it like that, but breeding them in captivity is not wrong.

  • the exotic cats breeds are very unique and beautiful. but also very pointless. if i were to ever get an exotic breed, it would be from a rescue, not a breeder.

  • Haha, that "mow mow mow" sound is almost the same sound my cat makes.

  • I like that cat at 2:26 that has its tongue out. :)

  • Yeah Tarzan doesn't like being filmed!

  • They're very beautiful cats! And I bet even more beautiful in the wild. Thanks for all you do.

  • mow mow mow mow mow :D

  • question, if you guys found a house cat that is lost, would you guys take it in your place? or in those things where they let people adopt lost dogs and cats etc?

  • We get this quite a lot people dumping domestics outside our front gate etc..., of course we get them checked out, spay/neuter then adopt them out :)

  • SHANIQUA!!?

  • I know, I just googled it and see what you mean :)

  • Agreed" habitat destruction". Huge problem.

On a 2 month wilderness camping vacation on N vancouver island our campsite was charged twice by a large male black bear protecting what was left of his turf ( mono forest second growth fir ) surrounded by km's of clear cut faller buncher harvested forest.

There were 4 other bears sharing that hill top due to their recent habitat loss.

Finding sutable dening for the long cold wet

winters must be becoming very difficult.

  • That must have been scary, it's sad that people are pushing wild animals out of their homes.

  • Animals are the best.

  • Not many people have heard of these cats, they do make some weird noises :)

  • lol cha chas funny :)

2;26 is cute!!! its all looking all masculine and its got its tounge stickin out lol

  • Very good informations - like always! You guys make it !

  • Thanks for watching!

  • They look like a cross between a lion and a domestic cat, what with those large shoulders and neck.

Pretty neat. I might have to make a character based off of one of these guys. Gotta love those stripes on their tails.

  • They are a cool looking cat, I like the plain coats compared to spots and stripes. With names like Rambo and Tarzan they would make good characters!

  • Do you know why they are diurnal?

  • It's just the way they have adapted over the years, perhaps it's safer for them to hunt during the day when there is no competition etc...

  • Adorable! They have such a cute meow. They have that house cat shaped face, but a big cat body. I never got why people bred cats, instead of just adopting them. Its horrible! Why do people have to make MORE houses, cities, etc? I doesnt make sense. I really admire how you guys are helping out all these beautiful species.

    - Your #1 fan, Voka.

  • Thanks for watching!

  • Did scott end up winning hero of the year?

  • We don't know yet, they announce the winner in december :)

  • Well good luck to him.

  • i hope he wins!!

    i voted for him! :)

  • they are pretty cute, they look like little lions when they sit, really cute :P
