todays industry with the exception of Alicia Keys and John Meyer lack sincerity, passion, and honesty for the love of making real music with real musicians
true say intellitentsun, i share your sentiment. i love this song, break out as well, in fact all the songs on this album, i miss hearing these songs on VH1 and back then MTV. I am an 80s teenager and i used to rock to those tunes
I remember hearing this song when the 80's were winding down and something inside of me wanted to hold on to this genre because somehow I knew true unbiased music artisanship was coming to an end. : (
i accidently rediscovered SOS when i saw a vid of them covering stoned soul picnic. So i checked out some other songs. This band was now gimmick or fad. Theese are some damn serious musicians and araingers. I'm glad to add them to my listening list. Until this vid, I didn't realize how smooth, jazzy, and cool this band is.
Sade, Swing out sister, Style council and Everything but the girl stepped into this mix between smooth jazz and pop that is so pleaseantly easy listening
I had not heard it since 1988 wow I was searching the song breakout and hearing the voice of its singer I said that she sounded like the singer of the song I had heard when I was 6 years old back in 88.
As much as I like Breakout, THIS is the song that really turned me into a Swing Out Sister fan (in 87). I've been an avid fan ever since. Corinne's voice continues to blow me away!
I love this song, my favorite from them, actually. This video is a shorter version of the actual studio track. I like that longer version so much more.
At the 1:06 mark... my eyes might be playing tricks on me, as it looks like one of those flat-screen TVs that are so much in vogue now is behind Corinne. And that was 1987!
Its hard to tell? It certainly looks like one. It kinda looks like a some kind of room divider or maybe its just just 80's decor? Good eye though, most of us would have never noticed it...too busy being mesmerized by Corinne! lol
Ditto, Fred . . Like you, I grew up with (and cut my teeth on) Zep, King Crimson, Free, CSNY, etc., but Corrine is something else again! I never tire of listening to her!
Timeless music, indeed. Wonderful to listen to, also in these days. Corinne is my favorite singer. Believe it or not, these are the words of a die hard Led Zeppelin and Soft Machine fan who grew up in the sixties...
Same here! I grew up on Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Even though I was drawn into them when they first came out, it was in my late teens and I was a diehard rocker, now I think its a combination of getting a little older and more laid back that makes SOS remain so appealing to me. Their music seems timeless, like Ozzy and Zeppelin!.....Wow! now that just sound's weird!lol
It may say weird to say but I feel & agree with all you said.I was a Die hard Heavy Metal fan But the older I got SOS appealed to me I just think it mean I opened up more horizons.
Hard not to confuse this voice with early Basia. The look is even the same for the era basically. I don't know much about this band. Upon first glance I was thinking it was early Basia pre-solo.
Great music nonetheless.
Timeless!
I was in Europe in 1987 and this music was perfect. The whole mood fit.
i can't believe it's over twenty years - the american music scene missed a great band and vocalist!!! japan and the rest of the world knew what they had and embraced them!! we got grunge and rap crap...luckily, there exists utube and real music players to download for later replaying, and replying and replaying...
This is definiely one of my favorite songs by them, and I especially like that they were one of the first artists to use Super-8 in their music videos. There's quite a bit of it in this one.

S.O.S. is cool hip and just fun.
Their style never seems to die out and remains just as fresh as it did in the 90's.
I am glad to see her come back so we could hear that great sound again.
