The trap is from "The peoples of Siberia" p.519. The trap is actually attributed to the Khanty, but similar traps exist among the Mansi as well. The trigger mechanism on bow-traps used by the Khanty-Mansi is however very different from the mechanism shown in the video. So it's not really 100% accurate even if it certainly works.

80 lbs is not much... in africa there are tribes whose bows are up to 150 lb pull. I have shot one myself and is was VERY difficult.

But if you like would leave the bow trap by itself for a long time it would mean that the bow would stay drawn the whole time, and wouldn't that damage the bow?

When i make bow traps i just make a quickie bow out of green wood. or a bundle bow of some sort.

Another way to use this would be to use a bible instead of an arrow, and wait for the jehovas witnesses to approach your door.

Thanx for asking. Thougt of it when the movie was already, done that I should have talked about the bow also. Anyhow,the bow is made from Elm and is ´round 50#.

i have read that siberian tribes made stronger bows for killing bears and carabiu..up to 80lb..is this true?
