  • LOL, Quite alot involved in a sideflip... 6 minute tutorial hell.

  • I have a question about backflips, Do I need to look back? or is it all in the shoulders/core?

  • bad tutorial u make it sound like rocket science when its a reallllllllllly easy trick to do...

  • @TheRYMAN08 Did you even watch the whole video? He says that the trick is actually very easy, and just explains tucking in the first part

  • @n3rdicwalking how he explains it makes it sound way harder than it is... its prolly the easiest trick to do..especially off of something

  • bad tutorial u make it sound like rocket science when its a reallllllllllly erick to do...

  • someone help me coz whenever i do a sideflip i do a 90 degree or a 180 degree turn im really not sure my im trying to do everything eveyone is telling me but i keep doing it please can someone help me and tell me what im doing wrong

  • @DJT5678 well spiing has to do with which way ur head and shoulders are turned...i kno this cuz i use it in gymnastics parkour and snowboarding. all u need to do to keep ur flip a side flip is make sure u keep looking either right or left depending on which way u flip....spot a tree or something that is in that direction and dont take ur eyes off the object until ur done flipping and also make sure ur shoulders dont drop or rotate either

  • i noticed this same thing to with my frontflips (cuz its the only flip i can do at the moment) that when im flipping i feel like im tucking a lot but when i look at a video of me i just look like im grabbing my knees and barely tucking. good advice i learned a lot now just need to apply it

  • Great tutorial, what is name of the song?

  • i'm working on this right know but if i lock my head to my chest then tuck i dont feel like im going to spin how can i rotate while my head is locked inside ?? thats what my mind keeps telling me i have this problem in almost all my tricks so i just need some help :(

  • @metalpk93 drive ur knees thru thats wat makes u flip not ur head u need to keep ur chin tucked and body in a ball to rotate faster

  • Awesome, although I'm not convinced with not looking back when back-flipping, I thought the body-follows-head principle had you flipping backwards, in fact from most people I heard that you NEED to look backwards.

  • @TenguMT Maybe it's more of a lean backwards thing than actually looking backwards? I was told to look backwards too but I think next time I throw some backtucks I'm going to try the not looking thing, though that seems a little scary. It seemed to work really well in those two example clips. Have you tried this approach yet?

  • @MrVoiceofreason123 i was always told to never look backwards because i would lose height. of course everyone does things differently and that doesnt mean that u cant look backwards or that you should do them a certain way. but i learned to not look backwards at first and that helped with getting height, but the only problem i had with that is that i would go back at all, it almost b a standing gainer or i would just go back a tiny bit. but everything is fix-able

  • @TenguMT u need to look straight ahead to make ur momentum go up first then when u start to tighten ur abs and drive ur knees thru then u look back and spot the ground so that u can stop ur rotation

  • I always land on my heels and then fall on my back, whats wrong?? Plz help!

  • hey, can you do the motion while explain with word........this is like a book...... but you help me......... a little.

  • DOGEN!..... you are,......A GENIUS!!

  • best tutorial on sideflips

  • Nice tutorial, but can the technique be applied to skis? :D

  • now i feel like i can do this jsut need to get the balls to do it

  • nice vid but alot of tutorials say take in a 1,2 motion is your technique better?

  • thumbs up :)

  • great tutorial.

  • holy shit! i love his double leg!

  • Nice tutorial! really helped, but i don't think it would be a good idea to PUNCH your feet unto the ground. On long terms it could harm your knees (unless you have strong legs). Unless it's the silent ninja way, Silence = good. :P

  • dogen's tuts always have more explanations than actions, which i find better

  • i meant i found his tuts better than most to all tuts i see

    explanations are better than actions

  • ron paul for president

  • exelent tutorial! grr888. it really helped me up ;)thank you!

  • Great tutorial .

  • ninjasatic

  • it feels as if that you spent the majority of the video discussing hoe to tuck rather than concentrating on the sideflip itseolf

  • I'm a black belt instructor . You absolutely know what you are talking about . Great job !

  • Oeps Sorry GUYS !!!!!!!! That other post of me was not for this Tutorial, its was for a frontflip tutorial that sucked! SORRY

This Tutorial is the BEST !! XD Thanks

  • Frontflip Tutorial (The best way to waste time)

You dont have enough information about it, it sucks!

  • so do u need a fast jog or not, do u just turn jumo and tuck or do u throw urself sideways somehow. plz mail me aswers to this question :)

  • here the two ppl who makes side/double in the beginning makes it facing to their right.. how does they make the same move from one foot :) ~aerial/sideflip from one food.. i wonder if its rewerse.. since i make it with two foos facing as the once in the tutorials beginning.. but my cartwheels/aerials~ feels better facing the rewerse way.. so is little confused.. any help? =)

  • Good tutorial, I like your words of wisdom at the end. Great! I have been trying to do a front walkover with no hands for ages, can't get it. You know of any tutorials? You know how to do it and can make one? Big request... lol. Cheers mate. J

  • when you make a sideflip tutorial don't spend 3 min on other stuff please !!

  • i tried it today . ive got the run up and the punch all set , but when i tuck , it just looks like i just jumped and tucked , i dont flip or anything . helppp

  • I love dogen's tutorials, they teach you EVERYTHING about the technique. This for example is a basic flip tutorial with a sideflip-part added to it. Very complete.

  • good tutorial but u wasted about 4 mins on backtuck

  • the tutorial is gd but its got to much stuff on backflips etc, wen all we r lukin for is the sideflip.

  • I dnt get which side i do it on?

  • Moron. Whichever one you want.

  • this tutorial is good it taught me a sideflip very easily

  • who cares about centrivical force..i can now do a sideflip...thanks...great tute.

i will now go and do one on concrete...

  • lol... "i can do this, now im going to do it on concrete" you sound smart.

  • you sound like a dick...a small dick...

  • good tute, but the tuck doesnt initiate the turn... you already have a small amount of rotation happening, and if you look at your side flips you are actually on an angle before you tuck, the tuck uses your centrivical force speeding up the small amount of rotation you actually have.

if someone took you too literally and actually jumped straight up, the tuck would do nothing because there is no centrivical force for it to speed up.

  • @BaLRoG8 that would only happen if they had no run up or didnt turn, but if they run and then 90 degree turn that creates a lot of lateral momentum and if they block correctly, they will in fact actually be jumping "straight up" but because of the blocking and momentum they are going sideways. but in their head and through their legs they are actually pushing their legs straight up, just going sideways and flipping

  • Good tips, the tip about 'the tuck initiates the turn' was a real eyeopener. Thx.

  • This is such a good tutorial. I'm gonna go try it right now!!!

    Greetz, Havoc.

  • this is a really gd tutorial. thanks.. wats the song btw?

  • Hey thanx, Not only did u help me with side flip but you put extra detail in the backflip. No wonder I can't do a backflip b/c I look back when I do it. I'm gonna practice right when sprained ankle is healed. :)

  • great vid. all valid tips !

  • great tutorial!
