Rothenburg, Germany: Romantic Medieval Town

Is this in southern Germany? The best architecture seems to be further south, whereas in the north the dull Scandinavian straight line style tends to dominate.

I lived in Germany during the mid to late 80's and this was an annual visit. Especially during the Christmas Holidays. It is beautiful then. I had the opportunity to visit again in 2008 and 2009 and nothing has changed. I love this place.

We were in Rothenburg with Rick Steve's tour company and it was wonderful. The beer is phenomenally good and the sausage and potato meals rich and wonderful. It is a very small place and quiet in the morning/evening. We stayed at a great hotel right in town that the tour picked out for us. We love Rick Steves!

Wow my ancestors originated here. Rothenburg was my last name until it was changed over a hundred years ago.
