It makes me sad thinking about those soldiers trying to fight the germans in Arnhem and watching there friends die or themselves geting killed. Fighting for something they dont know they will lose. But still trying to fight.
what is it about classical music. Hip hop people attack metal, metal heads attack pop etc. but all come to agree that, music like this is not only beautiful, but is superior.
@buckranger8 no its dutch im from holland its about the battle of arnhem also known as operation market garden i live in arnhem and its really felt here what the germans did to our city every year reunions, flyshows and airborne marches, very beautyfull in memory of all dead soldiers.
I know that there is ways to download this song through the internet. But, If I could give you an advise, i would say: dont download this song for free. Instead, buy it in in sites like amazon.
You will pay just 0.99 for this song, or you have the option to buy the entire album for 8.99. With this you will be supporting composers publishers in investing in more music like this.
Can you believe the complete and total time and effort that went into this soundtrack? Just for a video game? We'll never hear anything like this again on any game soundtrack. The cost is now too much. Forever more we'll have to put up with people like Hans (Douche) Zimmer and his cheap synthesized crap. DUM - DEDUM - DEDUM - DUM. NAA - NA - NA - NA - NA - NA - NA - NA - NA -NA. And repeat.
Does anyone heared about the next Medal of Honor? It will not be with the WWII theme. On the contrary it will have the theme of the modern days (much because of the sucess of MW2). I would like to hear from MOH fãs what they think about it.
@tomcat2285 i'll try. Unfortunately, if I do, it will take some, because now i'm in a project that's taking me some time. But let's wait a see how the things go.
I have been looking for what language this was for like 3 years! i couldent find any lyrics. and finaly i found this great video! Thank you very much!
i get emotions of the war when i hear this kind of songs.. i live in arnhem and found lots of ww2 relics with my metal detector only its a pity that its illigal..
@sithlibrarian42 you're right. this song is one of MOH's most touching songs. especially when you play the mission. you feel so sad for the poor brit's who actually had to endure that.
the designing of this part of the track was so specially selected to match and mimick the gameplay feel. it was a full choir chosen by the director to make this piece
you dont know what dutch is? its a language from holland you americans wouldnd even excist if we europeans didnt excist cause america is all about europeans, learn some history kid
If "houdt sterk" is meant to be an imperative then It should be "houd sterk". In modern Dutch there's no -t anymore at the end.
Now about the singer: Some sylables are pronounced as if they were English. "Mijn" is sometimes pronounced as "mine" (English). Also "u" in Dutch does not sound like "you" or "u" in English.
Indeed, the pronounciation of some words is sung as if they were english words. I already have heard this from others peoples.
The "Miji" word appears in the first three verses. In the two first verses the singer uses a differente pronounciation in comparision of the third verse. That means the singer knows how to say "Miji", and I starting to think that the "Miji" in the third verse is not exactly "Miji", but maybe other word. I took these lyrics from the Internet.
Is there any other word that fix in the meaning and in the pronounciation that you can think right now?
I'd like to ask you about the expression "houdt sterk" too. Some people told me that "houdt sterk" has no meaning without an "u" on the middle of them. Is that right?
About the "t" in the end of houd, It can be read on the cover of the CD that "Arnhem was sung in-game from the perspective of the Dutch". And the game's time is in 1944. So maybe the writer of the song used the old Dutch.
If it was written in 1944 it could definately have had the old spelling. On the question of whether or not this imperative needs to be accompanied by "u" (you) I can only say that it isn't necessary. The use of it depends on regional differences. I think it is more common in Flemish Dutch, not in the kind of Dutch spoken in Arnhem.
While the singer tends to pronounce "sterk" correctly the background vocals don't. It's the other way around in the case of "u".
rss... sorry, When I said game's time I'm trying to say that the history of the game goes in the past, in 1944. But the game and the song itself was made in the current days... The song was made from the perspective of the Dutch, the old Dutch.
But I really thank you for all the help and information given... If there's something you want to add, you're welcome!
@InvaderZim871 just so you know it was the british who were stuck in Arnhem back then
