  • can someone tell me what the books are called im intrested ty so much

  • @trigun00111 It's the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. It's a series of 7 books, and they are in this order : The Gunslinger, The Drawing of the Three, The Waste Lands, Wizard and Glass, Wolves of the Calla, Song of Susannah, The Dark Tower.

  • This song gives me a weird sense of nostalgia, of talking to certain people in the past... Great song :D

  • The way I see it, this song doesn't let you take it for granted. Just another emo goth blanket song. Yes I was in the lowest point of life even to this day.

But it let's you attach your own reasons and carries them away. The down syndrome is just an intimate theme for the writer to make a better song. . .

  • so good song and i can't listen it to the end ....

  • this song is my favorite of all time... My best friend is killing themself today and this was the first song I listened to and im only going to listen to this for the next... few hours or so.. Demons and Wizards, will always be here.

  • @arabidcrackhead Sorry about your friend.

  • Or there is the third possibility, that the song could have multiple meanings, it may have originally been made about Down Syndrome, but it was probably put on the Dark Tower album because it could be related to Roland's paternal situation also...

  • The only music that ever made me cry. I love you Stella, you're one of the best people of the world... I love you, my dear sister...

  • good stuff, that intro guitar reminds me of the music for the first Diablo game

  • beautiful music!

  • I was looking for another song but I like this one.....!

  • metal-rules(d0t)(c0m)/zine/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=199

?Down Where I Am? is about a baby born with Down?s Syndrome and the struggle of his father and the emotions going in and out of his mind.

And there are a few others he says aren't about Dark Tower.

  • @loudNiNjA28

No, it's about Down's Syndrome, says the people who wrote the song.

  • I just love this song, remember the first time when I heard this song, the feeling is still the same..

  • this is about misscarriage, what is wrong with you...?!

  • such a fun song to play

  • I think its fine to say that ALL of Demon's and Wizards songs are beast. Why doesn't EVERYONE know Demons and Wizards?

  • @Lowestpitch If everyone knew Demon's and Wizards, we wouldn't be part of the selected group that do know them jeje

  • it makes me cry..... even if im so fucking happy..... my liddlest sister has Down Syndrom....... cry for her too......

    german guy

  • @MannIchFindKeinName i'm sorry. I bet you're making her life a lot better, though. that's a good thing.

  • @zeroflowne i hope so =D

i think she is happy, shes the happiest of them... i hope that it stays like this...

    thank you.

  • incredible song. one of my favorites.

  • This song has multiple meanings, and it's left up to interpretation as well. I have a belief it's about Roland's father, and not wanting to get attached to him knowing what he would have to grow up and become, and also Mordred in both DT and Arthurian legend, or just a father having a similar situation with his son. He writes his songs to have those multiple meanings intentionally.

  • @gunslingersirk It may have multiple meanings, but the primary meaning is about Roland's father as the whole album "Touched by the Crimson King" is based on the Dark Tower by Stephen King. However ppl will will read into it what they will, especially if they haven't read the Dark Tower series.

  • it makes me cry...

    It hurts so much...

But I feel happiness in my chest! And I want to run away from this world.

  • What is this song about just curious.

  • @UndeadBeaner a parent with a child with the down syndrome

  • @UndeadBeaner this song is played in the movie predator when blain dies

  • @mattouw23 the band hasn't been around that long i dont think

  • @UndeadBeaner From the early to late 90's I think.

  • :')

  • I was under the impression the song was about Mordred, since this album's songs are mostly about the Dark Tower

  • Isn´t it great to see how life begins?

  • hum Guys I really feel lonesome right now anyone wanna chitchat

  • Ya~ This a great song for breaking up with someone, but not for someone with a great relationship going >.>

  • IN the top comments the first comment makes the second look good xD

  • Down where I am

    That's where darkness grows

And silence is your only friend...

  • Oh my God! What a Great Song!!! I Love it!!!

  • According to this interview:

"“Down Where I Am” is about a baby born with Down’s Syndrome and the struggle of his father and the emotions going in and out of his mind. It’s all pretty heavy despite all the acoustic guitars and it doesn’t matter if the music came first or the lyrics came first or if it was written all together. The way I define heavy is that it creates a moving emotion inside you."

  • I guess it would've been insensitive to name the song Down's Where I am.

But it would've made so much more sense.

  • @Jinxerz010792

    hahaha

  • @hintursul Thanks for the comment mate,I had no idea what this song was about. Now it's ten times more depressing...Hansi is great at making songs which tell stories and can touch your feelings

  • @hintursul it that schaffer being interviewed?

  • @AnthonyRF1996 Yes, it is Schaffer and Hansi being interviewed. Here you have it, for if you'd like to read it (fix the two parts of the link together, since youtube doesn't let me post it altogether :S)

    metal-ru

    les.com/zine/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=199

  • @hintursul Moar like it's about Mordred Deshain, since you know the album is pretty much a concept album based on the Dark Tower series.

  • @takeo12361

you obviously have not read all the dark tower books or listened to the album then you fucking moron

  • @deadstarchild

    0/10.

The album's name is based on the main antagonist. Nice try. I liked the part where you showed me where I was wrong. That evidence was the best.

  • Comment removed

  • @hintursul Since it is from Touched by the crimson king and about The dark tower. Might it be about the kids that the wolves take in calla??

  • @kuklampe Haha, you do know this band is a collaboration of the two working together right? Not a big deal if you didnt, it does seem like an easy mistake.

  • okay so i know this is'nt the right song to be asking this question for and I'm sorry for being off topic but does anyone know where I can get the tabs for Fiddler on the Green?

  • @alakardglanoth 911tabs.com has a good one

  • @alakardglanoth word thanks dude lol been wantin to play that song on the violin for a while ha

  • I give up. I think I fell in love with Demons and Wizards because of this song!

  • best song in my opinion..

  • @kuklampe Bullshit, that their styles fused doesn't mean it didn't change you simple-minded oaf.

  • Love the lead singers voice....

  • @Technobanana Great isn't it? :) The singer is Hansi Kursch from Blind Guardian

  • nasıl güzel bir sevgilisin sen...

  • 3 niggers disliked this

  • what's the name of the drummer???in every song I hear some part on drums that I really like

  • @guardianofstupid

I think it's bobby jarzombek on this album

  • @guardianofstupid Probably Bobby Jarzombek.

  • @guardianofstupid His name is Bobby Jarzombek pretty sure.

  • This is a weird song to make you feel better.

At its core, its about someone who has a newborn baby, then is revulsed by the fact they they have a medical/mental/physical defect and doesnt want anything to do with them and resents other "perfect" newborns while outcasting their own.

  • @emeraldrafael I believe it is a large reference to Stephen King's Dark Tower series. They have done many songs about it. To me this fits in with the birth of Mordred. I dunno, it's a very deep song. Can hold many things. :D

  • @iradave

Maybe, but this song in particular is about a man repulsed by his son. At least, thats the "official" meaning.

  • Whenever i have a shitty day i listen to this song and it makes me feel better :D

  • @wigglesthemongoose this song gets me down :D

  • I just love this song...

  • i wish there was a love button

  • *'Cuz Even Your Smile Hurts....

    Oh It Hurts Like Hell..!!!!*

  • best music *.*

  • ._. A few people missed the "Like" button for some reason. That's odd.

  • i think this song really draws attention to the sadness that roland felt deep down for mordred. excellent song from an amazing band!

  • Jon Schaffer has a new project called Sons of Liberty. Everyone should check it out, it's awesome!! He had a site made where you can hear the music for free (sons DASH of DASH liberty DOT net). It deals with some pretty important shit; I recommend it to all.

  • perfect song

  • could this be about King Arthur's Unwanted birth of Mordred?

  • @PhantomLord kinda , song is based on dark tower series and which is in turn is loosely based on king Arthur legend

  • @sewagedweller hmmm didn't know Dark Tower had to do with Arthurian legend. interesting stuff.

  • @sewagedweller Actually, kinda. It's more based on Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came.

  • @Cohedros what's the difference ?

  • @sewagedweller Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came contains much different subject matter from the Arthurian legends. Plus it's generally just a little more epic.

  • agreed, top 1 of all bands in the world, i like them, they are the best what happens to me in y short life.

You are the best, wish you could read that.

  • Well, i doubt that this song is about a child with down syndrome, for this whould be rachism against those children. Hansi's not like this, and i will not accept that a man like him would abandon his newborn child just for not being like the others. Please, somebody tell me that i am correct, cause i can't stand knowing that this beautiful song tells such a bad and unfair story.

  • @Fingon07 Well, as much as some people may disagree with my belief this is what I think it meant. But as far as I remember this album, at least most of it was Devoted to Stephen King's Dark Tower series, in which Susanah gave birth to Rolands child which was concieved by rape from a demon during which Roland was attempting to bring Jake back into midworld. .

  • @Fingon07 Now I can be wrong, but Its my own personal belief that this song starts off explaining the beauty of child birth. But then it goes into how the child was not wanted, because of the rape, Also interestinly enough it had been Rolands son as well. Fantastic set of books, I would say everyone should read them. Like I said, it's my own personal opinion

  • Comment removed

  • @pattycoelho1 Totally agree with you. This song is one o' my favorites

  • Gee, and here I was thinking it was more along the lines of "go then there are other worlds than these"..........................

  • In response to peoples personal beliefs, my first thoughts were a baby concieved through rape. I know its a guy singing but it could apply either way.

  • fantastic song

  • Cause even your smile hurts...

  • i personally believe that this song is about someone that hates himself so much that the thought of passing on his genes is more than he can take. Life isn't meant for everyone.

  • I personally beleive this song is about a father, who's wife died in child birth, and now he hates the child, because whenever he see's it, it reminds him of his dead wife andthen blames his child, so his child just grows up, hated and resented by his father.

  • "I fear my heart and fear my soul"

Can someone share their views on this?

I see it as the man who's giving up on his degenerate child is repulsed by himself for making such a decision, and he just wants it to die, or leave the man's life in any way possible, he just wants to forget about it and go on, but that feeling of great discomfort and pain is upon him.

  • @SexRobotOfDoom this song comes after fiddler on the green, and if you know that song thenyou know that two kids die and the father of a girl thats killed has another baby and resents it

  • Can you even back that up with some evidence?

I know Fiddler, and it's been one of my personal favorites for years, but I don't think this song is related to that in any way, especially when Jon stated that this song is about a child with Down's syndrome.

And I didn't ask about the whole meaning, just that one line.

  • i have a friend who was a good friend of hansi and he said that the child is of the father of the girl that died and that the child did have problems but fiddler was about a real thing while down where i am is fictional

  • Okay then, even more of a bummer.

  • @SexRobotOfDoom That's pretty much how I see it.

  • If my boy is either retarded or missing a chromosome this song is his!

  • Strong lul provoked. Well done.

  • One of the best songs in the music history!

  • bring mich immer wieder zum weinen der song einfach hammer gänsehaut pur ...*schnief*

  • *-*

  • One of the most beautiful songs by Demons and Wizards

  • @pattycoelho1 Don't forget Fiddler on the Green.

  • it's interesting how many interpretations can be related to this awesome song. For me one of the best of this disc. I loved Love's Tragedy too

  • according to an interview with jon schaffer, it's about the struggle of a father who's baby was born with down's syndrome.

It was wrongfully put on wiki that it was about modred, which i believe the song 'winter of souls' (from the self titled album) is about.

  • Beutyful song.

I think it´s abaut what King Arthur thaught, when his son Mordred was born.

The song wonderful descripes this Pain and Bitterness.

    Great text.

one of the best by Hansi!

    And his voice is perfect!

    Wonderful!

  • its actually about Roland of Deschain and his tribulations of the book Wizard and Glass by Stephen King.

his woman was murdered, after she was impregnated by his 14 year old self, she was burned for baring "the demon seed."

  • ...beautiful pics!

  • @DarcProjekt that is how i understand that song. there s a problem with that ?

  • Its on the wikipedia page for Touche by the Crimson King dude, srsleh that took like 2 minutes..... Down Where I Am is about a baby born with Downs Syndrome and the struggle of his father and the emotions going in and out of his mind. quoted straight off their page

  • When I first read about it on Wikipedia, it said the song was about Roland's son Mordred Deschain. That's actually the only thing that motivated me into checking it out, and no matter what anyone says, it's Mordred Deschain I will imagine whenever I hear this song for that simple fact.

  • @ometta7 Never liked Mordred from the DT series... he killed off the best antagonist ever - The Walking Dude: Flagg! I mean Flagg and Roland had a bitter history; seducing his mother etc and at the end of Wizard & Glass the write a check that is never cashed: That they'd meet again & have a show down... instead they kill him off to promote a noob... tsk tsk

  • Flagg was a great villain, there's no denying that, but I think his humiliating death at the hands of a "noob" because of his own arrogance was perfect justice. He should've been more careful and realized he was dealing with a half-God who could obviously read minds, instead he spewed crackers all over his shirt and worried about the baby shitting on him.

I liked Mordred because of how pitiful he was despite his evil nature. He was like the Antichrist, born into hatred.

  • @ometta7

That's fair enough can't argue on opinion, I just felt King pushed for the King Arthur story line late in the day and ruined what could have been an epic face off rather than Mordred just being shot into a fire... I dunno, I felt the last 3 books went down hill

  • Yes, it really is a matter of opinion. I can respect your's if you can respect mine. I thought the last book was great, because it showed the humanity of the villains, their weakness and vulnerability. A pretty good lesson for those wanting to choose an evil path.

Besides, I don't think an "epic showdown" would translate very well in book form. Maybe if it were a movie or comic, but it's really hard to describe a fight and keep it thrilling. But your opinion is just as valid to me. =)

  • yes, good points - I very much liked how the Crimson King was interpreted in the comics; the vision of an evil Santa Claus didn't resonate. In the comic he seems to have drawn from King's work IT; being more of an aracnid and saying his true form would cause Roland's brains to pour from his ears. I'd like the read more of the series if it's out there - I only have Born and The Long Journey Home (think that's the title)

  • There's also Treachery and Sorcerer. Sorcerer explains Flagg's history and childhood as well as his reason for hating Roland so much. I think Treachery is the sequel to Long Road Home.

I haven't read the comics, unfortunately they're expensive and hard to find where I live, but I've read about them.

  • seems to me, this is about his wife or girlfriend dieing giving birth, and the indifference he faces, hating the child for killing her, but i've been wrong before

  • @ghowe8 wow! I have to say that this song cuts even deeper with your definition of the lyrics... thanks!

  • one of best ballads of all time.

one of best vocals of - Hansi and for me the BEST guitarist - Jon Shaffer .... LONG LIVE MAN !!!

  • EXCELENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ahh ok

  • i liked this song...

  • im going to cry...but this is a gut song very good song

  • songs about a child being born with downs syndrome

  • could be about a father remembering his son's birth, and how innocent he seemed. the son probably grew up to be a sick fuck, or an evil person, or probably had a fucked-up death.

  • w8 a min the vocalist left blind guardian or what?.....

  • This is just a side project, he's still in BG.

  • @ArmoredRyu No dude!! Hansi from blind guardian has a project on the side with Jon Schaffer from Iced Earth... they call their project Demons and Wizards.

  • Hansi is too much of a god to be tied down to one band lol.

  • it talk about a father having a new born with down syndrome. its a good song, sad but good

  • It's about Roland and his son Mordred from Stephen King's Black Tower series...

  • @metallalo666 are you sure? Did you read is somewhere or is it a speculation?

  • Imagine... Your wife dies giving birth, and the child is not your own... Let yourself sink into the music, happy days.

  • best metal band

  • This band has defeated every other I have heard. I loved Nightwish and still do but this band is just astounding! Incomparable.

  • I don't care about what it meant for them. To me these are words unspoken in my heart right now.

I quote: I don't wanna see you, 'cause even your smile hurts

So true right now (no I'm not talking about a lover).

  • Awesome song

    Hansi beats them all :-)

  • Composition 10/10

    Lyrics 10/10

    execution 10/10

  • @komakkun its more then 10 its a fucking 11 xDDD

  • "Down where I am there's no bitter end at all... "

    What a line.

  • Great song- Excellent video!!!

  • O.O I Love it!

  • beautiful

  • very good

  • it's perfect...

    this song is soo.... great

  • gänsehaut pur...einfach nur der hammer.

    *schnief*

  • woww! Really nice song!

  • Pardon my perfect English, but you're dumb.

  • This song is about a child with down syndrome and his struggle with his father..

  • song with best story ever. there are 3 diferen stories in this song, and at the end all of them became one, real life story. the best project ever, iced earth + blind guardian +bobby jarzomback. THE END

  • nice song

  • What i belive this song is about satan having a child and not bearing the sight of what his own father created a miracle...How sick of a person he is after having a child he relizes he doesnt need to be the way he is.. he feels the way he does because of so much jeaoulsy satan had nd after having a child he finds out that his father god ws doing the best for him but he chose his own path..now the child will change him..

    Beautiful

  • When I hear this song I picture a child(possibly the antichrist) wandering the world alone, afraid, and unwanted. Slowly turning bitter and resentful of everyone.

  • Personally, this song makes me picture a female rape victim who hates that she has given birth to the child of a man who forced himself on her. Though because it is still her child, she can't help but love it.

  • That's a very good concept as well. The beauty of songs is the fact that anyone can have their own meaning for them, is it not? =)

    <
