pi isnt even the most natural circle constant. if the defining characteristic of a circle is its radius, why is our circle constant stated in terms of the ratio of diameter to circumference? tao is the real circle constant, r/c = 6.28. check out tauday.com for more info, its a really interesting website. tau > pi
Pi is overrated and e is not and here is why. the problem with pi is that some of its multiples are just as equally important as the number itself. For example 2pi or 1/2pi, just look at a physics book and you find just as many formulas with 2pi as with pi. So why does pi get special symbol and not 2pi. Is the whole circle number (6.28...) less important than the half circle number (3.14) ?? It's actually really not. Multiples of e however have no remarkable properties.
e and pi are really just opposite sides of the same idea, so claiming one's superiority over the other simply shows a lack of understanding their true meaning. Also, e needs a much cooler and distinct name.
exp(i*pi)+1=0

The only meaningful use of pi and e is to decompose a function into Furier Series

@MrIcicle Except mutiples of e are very important, as mutiples of pi are less important.

I like them both. I can't imagine life without either.

pi is more interesting, and is definately better known. look at Pi day, (3-14), records for memorizing digits of pi.
also, it's used in circles, which is interesting to people, and can be used in some practical instances (gardens etc)
fundamentally, pi is even more important and it's use is broader than e. e is used in calculus, and natural log bases, but these uses are limited.
pi is not only used in geometry, but also in trigonometry, which makes it one of the most used numbers in math.

nah. it just happens to be the main topic of the highest math course your peabrain ever achieved.. so you consider it more advanced and novel.
pi is ultimately more fundamental and interesting.

I'd like to be the first person here to say that Pi is definately better than e. :)
