Not to mention the daily driving ability, reasonable maintenance costs & reliability. How often do you see a Ferrari still going strong with 100,000+ miles on it? It wouldn't be my choice if cost was no object but in the real world the Vette is hard to beat.

@altimgamr I like the GTR, but you should have some respect for Covettes. Randy Pobst ran the Corvette at 1:34 and the GTR at 1.36. Two seconds at Mazda Speedway is a lot of time and he did that with a FRD over a AWD. Again, I respect the GTR for what it is, but you have to except that there's competition and the Corvette is all too often underestimated; especially when you consider it's price against it's competition.

Of particular note, with respect to a shot of the dyno computer screen: "The 650 HP rating is at the maximum continuous RPM of 6250, but the redline is 7000, at which point we saw 670+ HP on the screen. But Ford probably doesn't want you to know that."

@xabipp A $105,000 for a crumby 2 seat Vette that has a 7.0L NA push-rod with 345 stickys in the rear and all it can muster is a lousy 3.8s to 60, that's real impressive, well you know what they say, "A Fan Boy Jack-Off and His Money are Soon Parted."
Insurance with a clean record is $4000 a year, then there's those tires, over $2000 a set a year, good luck staying away from tickets & accidents.

@1vdn992 Vette's has 335s on the rear idiot.2nd of all my father's co worker has a brand new 2011 Carbon Edition and it cost him $900/ year to insure it.
Oh he also paid $79,000 to get it.People have been paying $80k for brand new 2012 Z06 with the whole shebang.
$275,000 for a Ford GT...that was actually slower than a $65,000 Z06 back in the day...

I know of at least 100 people from Corvette Forum with insurance that is less than $1,000/month.
He is...not only pathetic but also upset because he knows that Ford has no car that can ever come close to what the Z06 is :/

@xabipp Dude I already checked it out, new ZO7 with no tickets or accidents AAA almost $4000 a year, oh and what you're going to be under insured, I figured as much. You can play with the money you don't have all you want it's not going to change anything.
The people with money, AKA the smart guys, place a much higher value on 05-06 FGTs than any new Vette, ZO7s/ZR1s have done nothing to devalue them.
The 7.0L ZO7 has 345 stickys in the rear and the 3300 2 seat does 60 in 3.8s WHOOPEE

@1vdn992 The car tested above was 102K vs the GTRs 101K. The GTR is now $96,600 base. Like I said the cost of insurance is ALL relative to many things like age - zip code - state ect. YOU getting a quote fo 4K means nothing. As i just pointed out that one of the guys in my company got it for $1800.

In the end Corvette is one of the best sports car (even though it's fan boys make it look like a car only scumbags would like/buy) and let's be honest you have to respect the GT-R for it's performance despite weighting much more then it's competitors.

@McFly2015AD Yuk yuk yuk, read the article, Chevy offers and Motor Trend states, the $105,000 ZO7 came equipped with factory cheater tires, it is the only car that did and is the sole reason why this car is 3s quicker per lap than without'em, in simple terms Chevys engineers had nothing to do with cutting lap times except for the fact they installed sticky rubber that runs over $2000 a set and you'll have to replace them once a year, and the car ran a pathetic 60 in 3.8s/11.8s 1/4.

The same test also had the 911 GT3RS that sport MIchelin Cup tires also on a car that is basically a street legal race car.

@altimgamr I like the GTR, but you should have some respect for Covettes. Randy Pobst ran the Corvette at 1:34 and the GTR at 1.36. Two seconds at Mazda Speedway is a lot of time and he did that with a FRD over a AWD. Again, I respect the GTR for what it is, but you have to except that there's competition and the Corvette is all too often underestimated; especially when you consider it's price against it's competition.
