No you obviusly do not get what I am saying. You can draw all that crap on one floorplan with layering set up so that in the different model tabs you can just thaw or freeze what you want/dont want to see. Talk about time management. How do you make a change to the floorplan? seven times? or is it a block you modify? XREF is the way to go. Xref the FLP in one drawing. Then in that drawing set up a tabulated drawing for each discipline ie. plumbing, electric, framing etc.
Everything is drawn in modelspace. Have a title block drawing that you xref into paperspace on the one that you xrefed the flp into. If you want I can email you a quick sample of how a drawing "should" be set up. You dont need to be defensive, just open to other ways of doing things. I see what you are trying to save by time saving, but seriously Xref and a tabulated drawing is the time saving way.
Well I already know how to do all of that.....again you have to go to each tab and change the drawing I much rather do cut an paste only draw it once....I send out the base to plumber electrician etc they do what they need to do then I copy and past back in its original coordinates and done...and most of what's been done has already been done on another drawing....just make basic modification etc....every thing is a block for the most part or xref...even details are blocks or xrefs....
I agree to the art position. I am a fan of a nice font. But the 12 in one thing is a performance nightmare. And was it all done in Model space? I can see 12 layout tabs with individual drawings set up on them. But your title blocks belong in Paper space. I think the comments are more directed at your saying that that was you "working" which hopefully you clearly were not.

Wow ok title blocks are in paper space...what you see is the printable area of the drawing so when I go to set up each tab every thing is in the same place and saves time setting up the drawing and sheet size it's all about time management copy and paste.... you should only have to draw it once...if there were 12 separate drawings then that's 12 times I have to open a drawing and change something....
I cringe at the thought of architects or engineers doing cad. Looks like you've put twelve drawings into one file. Nice. I hope no one else has to work on it. And what's up with architects always using fonts that have that hand drawn look? Are you trying to make people think you drew it by hand?
I think thats the irony of it... A draftsman would normally strive to make a drawing as if it came right out of the plotter... Now there's CAD, the draftsman tries to make it look like a manually drawn project... lol!
It's really nice to look at drawings with a hand-drawn-look, though.
I guess it's nice for renderings and such, but i don't care for the hand-drawn look on construction drawings. However, I've developed utilitarian point of view. I'm in production. It's all about quantity and speed. I leave the pretty drawings to the architects. I'm no artist, I'm a technician.
You should learn to become an artist...Architecture is an art form and will always be...but a technician will always be just a draftsman...give him something to draw and that's what he will do....
yeah anyway I don't want to be an artist. Artists will never understand information technology. I am more than a drafter. I am an IT professional. I am not concerned with what I draw. I am concerned with managing and formating your data. Architects and artists don't seem to understand how to do this. Try learning BIM or 4D. Architects have great ideas, but they don't know CADD very well.
It's much more than just a drawing.... it's part of why I practice ARCHITECTURE and have been for the past 30+ years changing the urban landscape one building at a time...besides the posting of the video was purely for fun so why it calls for you to critic what I did I'll never know...I Didn't ask you or anyone else...I did not post the video with intent to display myself as a master at AutoCAD or anything else, and I didn't say I was better at it then anyone else...so get over yourself....
Sorry. I guess I just have too much cadd on my brain. I eat cadd for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. No offense.
BTW everything on youtube is open for critique. "Hey, World! Look at what I made and tell me what you think about it." is what you are saying when you post a video. Otherwise, disable the comments. Cheers.
Well I put the 12 drawings on one page because I'm a one man office and this works better than 12 different drawings and makes for much better plotting.....I come from the old school when all drawings were done by hand before AutoCAD took a hold on the industry...true AutoCAD has made it possible to take drawings to a whole new level but and true Architect or Engineer that is true to his craft will always stick to a page style regardless to the media in which it was drawn...
Even a one man office could benefit from a little production style cadd management. I could show you how to do it so much better. Better for plotting? Oh lord. You poor soul. I'm sorry, but you need help. Cheers.

grneyes 3 years ago
There's a lot of pan and zoom but where's the actual "work"? Anyway, I am giving you a 5 star.
shinji130 4 years ago
ok there is a lot of pannning because i was testing out the my webcam thats all....
grneyes 3 years ago
That's okay, I pan and zoom all day as well when there's no work in the office and I have act like I'm busy...

Well guess what, I'M THE BOSS 30+ years.... so who gives a crap

guess it works for you, but your methods wouldn't work in a large scale production environment. that's all i'm saying.
