This is probably my favorite song of all time. I'm a long time Sonic Youth fan, but everytime I listen to this one makes me love this fucking band even more. I just know that these guys were very close friends of Kurt, and that they were devastated by his fall and death. It's an epic song at a time where Kim and Thurston were dealing with the death of a friend and pupil. It's always open to interpretation. I think about being 14 again when I hear it. I think it's more about losing, loving, and getting old than it is about any particular person. But I am sure that losing their friend had a devastating effect on the band's mood and effected them.
