I reckons the last special event in Hong Kong to celebrate the Queen apart from the Official birthday was that of the Silver Jubilee in 1977 or am I wrong?

Sadly there will be no more Diamond jubilee celebrations in Hong Kong cos the events now marked China's national day and Handover day or in China, Liberation of Hong Kong on July 1st for many years to come.

@magician226 July 1st communist dictator will come to HK to attend anniversary celebrations as he does every year according to BBC report last month.

But it will be last time President Hu attend celebration before he steps down next year.

@magician226 You have no choice because Britain & China signed 1984 treaty and part of it forbids return of British and also bans HK from independence. China will stay with HK forever I am afraid.

China declared HK Chinese sovereignty - They say HK will be Chinese forever.

Over 10 years more HK people start to felt Chinese so Chinese media said!

Britiain will never go back to HK cos we don't wish to upset the Chinese government cos need friendship and trade.

@uudrakgvens94 It will not be British again for very long time cos the treaty forbids British return once we Brits promised never to return, nor will HK be given independence. Britain want good trades with China so signed treaty with the Reds.

You can blame Mrs Thatcher for giving away HK to Chinese. We seems to be turned cowards. Chinese sovereignty over HKL is protected by PLA who now has plenty of money to strengthened army navy and even the air force so the USA said.

The royals have only a little power now, but really they are less a ruling class and more of a commodity for society - liken british society to a regular person: we can get by living in a plain room with no furbishings, flavourless food and boring social life, or we can spend a little and get something pleasant, like a good meal out. Ordinary life is the baked beans you buy all the time, things like royalty are the diamond ring you buy to show off and have fun ;)
