Waldorf Blofeld As Promised 1

Should I sell my uQ Keyboard to get this...¬__¬ ... This blofeld is so sensibly conceived and made, it's almost a dream came true.

@javiceres the uQ is a great synth, offers multiple outputs and a vocoder, so i'd stick with it, the blofeld is basically a re-issue of waldorfs wavetable technology. the PPG filters are the only extra spec but the uQ's ability to process external sounds offer more flexiblity.

Can anyone tell me how to update the firmware???i tryd it with cubase 5 and bomes send fx and im still stucked with the firmaware 1.02! It just wont work...

@thetaperipper I use a free piece of software called midiox, and send it over traditional midi, but usb should work just as well

Im having a problem I hope you can help me with dude, the store function on my blofeld barely ever works. so Ill spend like 50 minutes making a deep pad, then I go to store it, and it reverts back to the original sound, and turns me off from using the thing at all.

has anyone else had this problem?

yeah I noticed the mistype, what happens sometimes (well not lately, and hopefully never again) is Ill press shift utility to save my sound, and the screen scrolls up to reveal the original waldorf patch. i think this might have been a mistake on my part, seeing as now that Im more careful when I store a sound it hasn't happened again. I like korgs write function way better though, once you activate it, everything else is deactivated while waiting for your conformation.

Is it any good for 808/909 kick and snare type percussion? If I took this out live with my hardware sequencer could I use it to do retro style drums?

hey I have a question, Ive been thinking of getting a dsi evolver and korg r3, but this thing is changing my mind a bit, what would you reccomend yourself?

i read your comment,the korg r3 is about the guts of 680 euro,and the dsi evolver is about 400 or so,maybe more,the blofeld is like 400.

a dsi and r3 are formidable synths,but the waldorf is amazing too,what do you really want from your music that is the question,and what are you going to use to control your waldorf??

Im gonna use my emx and a midi keyboard to control it

I figure I already have mmt synthesis so th r3 is out of the question(no need for the same sounds I already have) I think Im going with the blofeld it seems so amazing

i have an emx and esx too,and im thinking of getting a Blofeld too,(which will be controlled by my emx or esx)

controlling the blofeld with the emx is kinda weak, because it sends all the drum parts as notes rather than channels (also the note on length only last as long as the light flashes, not the length of ur actual sound)

I would actually go the other way and sample the blo with the esx. youll be able to expand ur drums and synths

was worth every penny and now they've made a keyboard version which you can import your own wavetables to.

yeah but twice the price and no aftertouch... the samplerwould mwke it worth it though. The Blofeld range looks like a sort of plug-into-daw-and-hit-record synth, with all the modulation opportunities. Can't wait! :-)

@Quiggers1981 you can also implement your own samples, so blofeld gets a Sample-Synth as well, not only the keyboard (which is great key-action I heard) but you can also upgrade the desktop version (you just have to pay the unlock-code)
