  • ok... now please explain in english!

  • hey bro nice vid, how do i use the circular inputs on my key board ?

  • its a very old keybord? isnt it?

  • can you loop samples endlessley with this mpc rather than just play oneshot samples(outside of sequencer)?Just i have a sp-404 and usually loop endlessley rather than do oneshot performance's.

  • Hey man when im playin a sample it randomly stops and the metronome like mutes it out same with if i have drums itll mute out the sample why is this happening?

  • Can you sample straight from an electric guitar or do you need some kind of pre-amp? Sorry for all of the questions. Haha

  • Can you chop up the recorded samples? And then put the parts on separate pads?

  • @OutCrowdBeats oh absolutely. this is a sampler.

  • Hey does the mpc have built in drum effects?

  • can you sample from a klaviatyr?

  • yo man I dont know if you willsee this but you are the reason I know how to work this complicated peace of hardware man I love hip hop and you need to get paid for this there is nobody else on the internet who has taken the time to do this man foreal much respect to you for it

  • genius!... i want this but i wanna get a mpc 4000

  • shoutout to the people who take their time and video tutorials like this and open up the possibilities of many new learners..

  • Thanks Rios!

  • Thanks Rios!

  • i have a mpc 1000 how do i record my sounds from my keyboard over my drum pattenrs not as a sample like u showed but like in a sequence?

  • @mrfarrock15

I'm really desperately looking for the same answer actually, so if you find out anything, please let me know. Thanks!

  • yo good looking out yo!!! i just got an mpc500 and i wouldve been lost without your videos!!! appreciate it!

  • yo bro!how do you play the keyboud notes into the mpc and quantize what you,v played,i know how to record what iv played but i want to be able to quantise it,iv tried to plug the midi out othe keybourd into the midi in but the mpc doesnt seem to pick it up,

  • TO LOAD WAV SAMPLES IN MPC 500 YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE BIT FROM 24 OR 32 IN 16 BIT....AKAI MPC 500 ONLY RECOGNIZED AUDIO FILE IN 16 BIT YOU CAN CHANGE THE BIT WITH AUDACITY......

  • hiya, a question for you hope you can help, i bought mpc500 this week, i have some samples as wav files and have connected the mp500 to my pc via cable, when ive dragged the wave files over to the mp500 they go on there ok, but when i try to load the samples ive put on there it says unreconised?? i know they are wave files so should work, any ideas , cheers and great videos

  • can you record the mic/line input on the fly and let it play without having to stop the playback like you can do it with a BOSS RC-50 looper?

  • hey, idk why, but i recently feel like making music. i am absolutely clueless about how to start. all i know is that i have a piano keyboard. i recently heard a piano song that i think would be pretty nice if i add so hip hop in it. how do i do this? what do i need? is there something that can add sounds or change the sounds to a song? eventually i want to work my way up to creating my own piano song that i can edit/remix.

    thanks

  • how much ram does the 500 have? i use a 2500 and it only has 128mb, which has its cons. I mean if you were just using it for studio work, 128mb is fine, but for live shows its a bit short. :( Microkorgs all day!

  • I use reason 4 software. When i connect my midi keyboard + audio interface with (midi I/O) the mpc 500, can i record reason sounds into the mpc

  • Yo homie great help! but im brand new to this thing and i cant figure out how to convert my saved sequence to a mp3 file. Its always a sequence file or whatever.. Please help me. Peace

  • Just looking for someone else's opinion would you recommend this or the Roland sp-404?

  • @SamNecktie i've never used either, but from what i've seen and heard on demo vids, the mpc500 would be the best bet. this looks so simple to use for instant gratification. plus it's significantly more expensive, so i would figure.

  • i just wanted say good looks for all the videos mane. There helping me out alot.My homeboy is letin hold dwn his mpc 500 cus he barely uses. At first it was mad confusing had no patients now im rippin beats. Thanks alot brother. Peace.

  • Hey rios, just had a few questions about the mpc 500. Ive never used a drum machine but im looking to get an " all in one" machine that will allow me to record samples along with making beats. So as far as sampling goes, how would I go about chopping up an mp3 song and altering the pitch and so forth with the machine and adding the sample to the beat made on the pads? or would i need software like audacity to mess with mp3 songs? and also does the mpc 500 include synthesizer effects?

  • BAD ASS - analog ftw!

  • in thinking on buying an MPC500. If a have a sample on my computer, can i load it into the MPC from the computer then? my english is pretty sketchy, hope u understand.

Keep up the work on the tutorials!

  • @MrBuddaha yes u can. all u would need is a usb cord

  • hey Rios, can you sample a single keyboard sound and transpose it across multiple pads, to play leads, bass sounds or chords?

  • can stretch the sound, like in fruity?can sample a short sound and stretch to create a long sound?

  • @gigettu i bet you can do anything with this thing! the trick is getting the controls down where it's easy to do what you want, i'd think.

  • how to sample thru midi just asking cus i wanna hook all of my stuff and not have to move nothing

  • why dont you dump your recorded keys into your comp, clean em up, use whatever plug-ins to make the keys sound better, than chop em up and play em on the pads for a better sound..

  • yeah if you have a program on your pc (im using pro tools) you can record your keys or whatever into your program, add fx, and chop your samples in pro tools then load them into the mpc...i do that because some times the keyboard sounds too... i dunno synthy? sometimes it doesnt sound raw enough so i add effects and do whatever in PT then load them to the mpc and mess with the pads...

  • @DoctorSess good idea! i kinda do that already with my 8-track and acid pro. record it all live, and then take each track and give it some gritty effects.

  • which cable are you using at the beginiiing

  • a pimp u is da shyt

  • can you upload drums on the mpc 500

  • Sure, it is a sampler. You can use the USB for that. Copy samples from the PC to the MPC Compact Flash card.

It is treated like a mass storage device, AFAIK.

  • thank you man ! i am seriously greatfull for your tutorials.. i appreciate it !! ;)

  • What are thos cords called so I can order them...

  • thanks bro for the info peace and god bless.

  • is the akai mpc 500 as good as the mpc 1000? what's the ifference between them apart from the 4 pads?

  • this is a good way to sample Bass Lines haha

  • Man, how do I get better sounds for my MPC 500? The sounds it came with are some shit.

  • A MIDI ???.... :)

  • Thanks for your videos, they have helped me alot!

I got one problem with my 500, I cant record my microkorg for long, all in all maybe 30 seconds or something like that. And I dont mean 30 seconds straight, I mean in total, all syntheziser recordings together. Is this because I dont have the 128mbit ramcard? I guess it is, thats why I ordered one today but I would like an answer so I dont walk around like a fool.

Take care, and thanks for your help.// DJ Ganja.

  • can i sample from my ipod?

  • yup. as long as you have a rca connector that has a headphone jack on the other end.

  • @riosbeatz1 how many tracks can u sample on

jus bought one 2day i need info igt and mpc1k jus try to see the similarity

  • @ontray42 rotten

  • hey man nice beats... does the korg have an arpreggiator? ..also to start recording from bar 1 hold rec and start/play buttons and it automatically goes to the star of the phrase. saves u having to back it up...peace

  • the korg does have an arpeggiator. and thanks for the info i didn't know that. i always press the buttons to go back to the start of the sequence.

  • can this make samples with wav or mp3 files or only self-recorded stuff ?

  • you can sample wav's and mp3's as well. i do it all the time.

  • thanks rios! since then i've bought the mpc500 and sampled a lot !! its great! thanks for the tutorials!! peace!

  • Hi.Can I use AKAI mpc 500 for real time sampling moments, without stopping?i am doing experimental acid funk jazz Live Acts(I play guitar, synth, bass .....and some weird instruments)

  • i haven't done anything real time so i don't know if it can.

  • Does This Machine Worth Something With Out The CF Card?

  • yeah because you can buy blank cf cards and upload you own sounds anyway.

  • i mean with out any support of CF Cards at all

    just the internal memory

  • no dude lol it's just a empty rerun slot haha

  • Whats the name of the cables??

  • quarter inch connectors 1/4 inch

  • Ok. question. When I connect my keyboard everything works perfect, I record it. Send it to a pad. But when I try to put it onto the beat itself, everytime I push the pad the entire song stops to either play the pad or as soon as I push it the song cuts it off. How do I fix this. Is it a setting or something?

  • it might be that the sample is set to poly instead of mono.

  • Comment removed

  • my other question is whats the difference between using rca cable or using midi in & out cables to connect your midi? thx

  • midi cables only send midi clock messages, not sound.

  • so can u play a midi sound on the cpu and have it record onto the mpc?? or will it come out blank

  • i'm not to familiar with midi. not to sure homie.

  • well if the mpc 1000 is anything like the 500 then i think i know what i gotta do... i just need a mixer... but thanx for da reply man hope to collab wit u on somethin in da future

  • hi riosbeatz1 ~ this is philip from taiwan. after i saw your tutorial i decided to buy a mpc to play with my fantom G6. my question how do you connect your mpc and your keyboard so that both machine have sounds out to hear~ I have L & R monitors but right now i only can figure it out either the mpc's sounds comes out or the other way around...... please help thx

  • dude you need a mixer, plug your Mpc and your G6 in to the mixers inputs and the Monitors to the outputs and you'll be able to hear both

  • thankx from montreal canada my fav nigga thx man nice korg

  • Did you duct tape tha cam to your head????

  • Hey man, Awesome tutorial.

Just one question... after you've stopped recording from the external source, do you need to stop all the tracks to assign it to a pad? Or can you keep the drum parts going while you assign?

  • i ususaly stopp what's playing and overdub from the start to press the pad at the time i desire.

  • Thats funny cuz when I try sampling the korg in to the 2000xl I cant do it when the drum patterns are playing we got to use the midi cables it might be eazyer that way

  • where did you buy da cable

  • i bought it at guitar center. but you could go to radio shack and buy 4 quater inch adapters and a double ended rca cable.

  • Whats up rios?? Eh just a lil something I noticed you have not touched up on. How do you erase something you did like you were making a beat and its a lil off but every time you try to do it again it plays back the messed up one you already did?? Just wondering. Good job though and keep rippin.

  • if you press mode trim and select the sample you want to erase. in that menu scroll all the way to the right and under select make it 'delete' and press do it. that should erase the sample.

  • hey bro...thanks alot for your tutorials..they help me immensely..i wont forget to give you a shot out when i make it big...haha..i hope...i like the detail you explain things in..i read the manual but cant understand 99 percent of it...again... thanks man alot...keep up what you do and i hope you get to where you want to go...aloha

  • yup the manuals expect us to have knowledge that we don't usualy have. but hey i'm glad it helps and i'll be looking for that shout out!

  • Funny how you can find out how to do things on music equipment like that! Alot is covered in manuals, but sometimes things like this aren't explained! Experimenting is the key! Nice tutorial Rios!

  • yup messing around is how men figure junk out. hahaha!

  • oh shit!! i didnt know you could do it like that!! while the drums were playing!!! thanks buddy!!

  • yup it won't affect the recording as long as the feature is set to Record: Rec In. that's the default setting.

  • i gotta try that. i havent messed with the record feature on the mp yet. something new to work with yeah!!

  • heck yeah man. samples get boring sometimes while keyboards get boring to. now you can alternate between the both. or 3 or 4 depending on how much you can plug into the machine.

  • Did you switch your record gain and volume nobs?

  • no it's should be the same like all the other 500's.

  • thx rios for that tutorial, it helps me a lot!!!!! 5*

  • no doubt man!

  • Cool

  • Keep them Tuts comming !
