Funimation.... not to mention Funimation had Bruce Faulconer... who honestly to me was the one who made DBZ such an Americanized success. DBZ would never have made it as big as it did in USA if the original BGM was switched to a more upbeat eccentric sound. As for the voices..yeah Vegeta is easy to make fun at...but hey it can't be all perfect.

They all sound the same and they sound really forced to me. Stephanie Nadolny was definitely the better actress for Gohan (XD she also played Kid Goku)

Both the funimation and ocean dubs have some pretty glaring problems. All I can say is when Dragonball Kai is ready to be dubbed, place Sean Schemmel as Goku and Scott McNeil as Piccolo, I'll die happy.

Cancun187, what is your problem, just because some prefer the funi dub over the ocean dub doesnt mean that you should insult them because it goes against your own personal opinion. I like funi's dub i started watching in '02-'03 and that's what i'm used to, when toonami once decided to switch back to ocean's dub on a couple of episodes, i cringed because it just didnt fit right with me. Funi deserves their due because quite frankly ocean's music was the most god awful of the bunch.

the ocean dub dubbing after the freeza saga was mediocre at best. mostly concerning time and budget, the ocean studio and the va's weren't as prepared as they once were. funimation gained more experience and they were able to dub better

Funimations VA's suck balls, even with "more experience". The only reason Funi's dub looks better is because they had more time to tinker with it, to clean up the picture and dialogue. That makes a huge difference, especially if the VA's suck, and Funimations VA's do suck.

we'll yeah, when funi took over, they hadn't done voice acting before, just theater. look, at the time, dbz was a market towards kids, so they actors not only imitated the ocean group, but also the style of voice acting they grew up with in cartoons. Not only that their budget was limited, they could only obtain very few voice talent. But now look at funimation, only their dbz dub is really considered bad from their early days, but FMA, Yu Yu Hakusho, and plenty of others are praised by fans.

By the sound of their first dubs, the "theatre acting" is not present, anywhere. As a matter of fact, their acting still sucks to this day, although it has gotten better. I can enjoy Dragonball in all it's version aswell, except Funimation's version becuse it sucks.
