You have to use the b key for that. When you are finished using b key, press esc.

You can also use single selection, hold Shift and click with Lmb. (Make sure you have vertex selection mode Alt + Tab + 1)

Your are probably using vista then..

if you are, go to Control Panel > Performance > Visual Effects > and turn everything off.

Blender should then be working perfectly.

Thanks for this tutorial, but you could be a bit clearer about what button you are pressing when you make a menu come up for noobs like me. When you do the end of the sword, doesn't it look better if you use 3 or 4 extrusions instead of just doing one?

super3boy needs to work more with making games, i have made a full blown fps and have had to learn how to do just about all of it on my own, animation is much easier than games in my opinion because if you know how to animate it doesnt mean you know how to make a game but if you can make games you can animate.

KEY(S)= Scale: Scales the selected vertici.

Then extrude, and merge the extruded vertici.
