Nice soundbite, but it has no relation to reality. If it were really that simple, there would only be one Christian denomination. But there isn't. There are literally THOUSANDS of groups calling themselves Christian, and what seperates almost all of them is their own particular interpretation of Scripture. God loves all mankind. Those who hold the signs "God hates fags" are mistaken. God is not able to hate his own creation, at least according to what I was taught. Even those who commit terrible sins, God loves. And Olsen is right; there is no better or worse sin; sin is sin and being gay is certainly not the ultimate sin. Last, God knows that, just as he cannot hate his creation, so also mankind cannot prevent itself from sinning. He doesn't ask that we not sin, just that we repent for our sins.
I was raised in the Christian faith by an incredibly loving grandmother, and I have to say that this logical fallacy of pairing belief in traditional values to "hating gays" is getting really, really, REALLY old. If somebody is genuinely wrong, you're not loving them by telling them they're right. We all have areas we need to improve in, as Joel says, but we're not going to achieve that end by pretending we're right when we're not.

Want proof? Just look at gay marriage laws in this country. What you're saying is like arguing that water is not wet. the Bible specifically says that 'it is an 'abomination' and those guilty ought to be put to death. Now the Bible also makes it clear in the New Testament, these penalties imposed by God do not apply to Christians IF you repent. The Bible wasn't 'politically correct' by todays standards.

Nice soundbite, but it has no relation to reality. If it were really that simple, there would only be one Christian denomination. But there isn't. There are literally THOUSANDS of groups calling themselves Christian, and what seperates almost all of them is their own particular interpretation of Scripture. And most of them believe that their intepretation is the only correct one.

God loves all mankind. Those who hold the signs "God hates fags" are mistaken. God is not able to hate his own creation, at least according to what I was taught. Even those who commit terrible sins, God loves. And Olsen is right; there is no better or worse sin; sin is sin and being gay is certainly not the ultimate sin. Last, God knows that, just as he cannot hate his creation, so also mankind cannot prevent itself from sinning. He doesn't ask that we not sin, just that we repent for our sins.

I was raised in the Christian faith by an incredibly loving grandmother, and I have to say that this logical fallacy of pairing belief in traditional values to "hating gays" is getting really, really, REALLY old. If somebody is genuinely wrong, you're not loving them by telling them they're right. We all have areas we need to improve in, as Joel says, but we're not going to achieve that end by pretending we're right when we're not.
