  • who is better, yuri van gelder or chen yibing ?

  • Yibing! He's the best and so cute! He's sooo strong <3

  • the only errors in that routine are in his yamawaki and whip it to cross but apart from that hes flawless

  • The best of all times? In my opinion yes, he is!!!!!

  • phenominal

  • When Chen Yibing is in his best form, no one can beat him as he's the best on the rings, now or ever. He's the one and only.

  • @IAMcandiiiii West German gymnast Andreas Aguilar would like a word with you .. check the 1991 world championship performance

  • Most ring routines are tough to watch, but I couldn't remove my eyes when i saw this. The best ring routine I've seen.

  • Great positions, but I think his holds are not quite 2 seconds. Watch the progress bar..most of them are 1.25 - 1.5 seconds.

  • He is the best ever.

  • sent chills down my spine, Chen is Lord of the Rings.

  • I can't see any person who can beat him until he retires. He's a machine.

  • @admetric i think that actually at this moment aleksandr balandin has improved a lot, and he can defeat chen..

  • @IAMcandiiiii ok dude I know who chen yibing is.. but nobody lasts forever.. he is still the best but I see some great pretenders...

  • You look at Chen's routine and you can't catch anything wrong with it in slow-motion...

  • hes so cuttteee

  • Does anybody know why he uses high bar gloves??

  • he made it look like anybody can do it, lol, in other words, he made it look effortless.

  • @wlmp thats what all the pros make it look like!

swimming as well! they make it look so easy omg

  • such amazing strength and an equally amazing face to boot ;)

  • He's the best ever on rings. He probably could have gotten immediately back up and did the routine again almost as well.

  • he has a baby voice too!

    haha how cute (:

  • Chen Yibing is cute!

  • malvernraja: No, Chen Yibing was NOT the last gymnast to perform on rings; he was the 7th, and there was one more gymnast to perform.

  • i don't get how he gets this start value of 7.2 ?

He preforms the same routine now and only get 6.8, were the bonusses still around on the olympics?

  • @Rasvatri Yes, there are no bonuses now. You can download the new code of points at the FIG web page. They also took out the homma into maltese, doesn't exist anymore, that why he now does a back uprise into maltese

  • @joshuachancuevas just what i tought :p

Yeah, and tampakos etc doenst excist anymore either,

too bad they took out the bonuses :)

  • what happened to him? there are no videos on YT of him in 2010, also he took not part in the 2009 WC

  • @Sameronei You can see his crash in the QF of the WC with his dismount, so he wasn't qualified

  • OMG he's the lord of the rings

  • "The judges were mesmerized ..."

We all were mesmerized ... we all were :D

  • I never knew that rings was beautiful.

  • Beautiful is the word which springs to mind watching this; absolutely perfect. Where the judges deducted I have no idea? Anyone have a clue?

  • he could have done a victorian?haha

  • What is a victorian???

  • its like the reverse of a maltese; your body is facing the sky, horizontally flat in line with the rings. Like if you were doing afront lever, except your arms are level with your body...crazy!!!

  • That sounds really weird, and for some reason, doesnt sound difficult. Obviously it is, because I have never seen any gymnast perform one. Is it even in the modern Code of Points?

  • I'm pretty sure on of the Worlds finallists this year did it twice, but I don't know who.

  • It's a G move (or F), called Victorian or Inverted Swallow. Danny Rodriguez does them really well. Twice in his routine like stated before.

  • @SchmidSteven I think it is an E or at least was at the time.

  • @SchmidSteven it is a F

  • @ralucagymnast you probably know till now, but victorian is an inverted maltese.. it's barely impossible

  • the azarian was .1 high (did not enter cross perfectly)

first maltese his feet were low

    yamawaki was labored

back up rise planche was low

    feet low on yamawaki maltese

    chest low on landing

these are the obvious ones. more can be said but i didn't want to be picky

  • well, i'm not too sure about this, it's just a guess, but for rings you get deducted everytime you swing (particularly when holding a strength position), and also, his feet may have been too far apart when he landed to count as a stick, which also may have been deduction.

  • fucks wrong with his arms

  • lol thats what i always think, i think the muscles are so big that they make it look like their arms are bending backwards

  • It's got nothing to do with the size of their muscles. Their arms actually do bend backwards slightly. It's not uncommon for people to have hyper extension in their elbows like that, but it tends to be exaggerated in rings gymnasts because of the stress that rings places on the elbow joint.

  • wow. just wow. and i've seen a lot of routines.

  • love it. Sometimes people forget how hard it is do actually do one of those moves

  • Oh my god! Im struggling to hold an L sit for more than 10 seconds! And this guy does this!

  • Very elegant, especially 0:52 to the handstand. He didn't pike during the swing, and his shape during the handstand was excellent.

  • he' so humble he tells the crowd to calm down cause there other people

  • He is brilliant!!!

No other gymnasts perform still rings routine with that swing and strength perfection, it is truly mastery level

and 16.600 isn't his best score, he did 17.300 and this is outstanding!

I'm absolutely amazed, an epic still rings performer

  • well you have to understand that at some point these athletes all compete in their own national championships at which the judges are very favorable so it's "easy" to get a high score there.

This is by far the best routine i've yet seen by Chen Yibing.

  • when did he get a 17.3? this routine is perfect already.

  • Just before Olympic Games. In fact, in Beijing and i don't know why that happend , he's difficulty score was lower as he usually did, becouse he drop few strength moves like pull to maltese (balandin) or maltese push to planche

maybe it's was a strategy chineese coach...

    i don't seen here video when he did 17.3 but here is he's 17.0 => watch?v=UpcgyCkGmtg

    Enjoy :)

  • gras.

  • Chen YIbing is very clean.

  • is maltese to inverted more difficult than maltese to planche or vise versa?

  • maltese to invert gets 0.2 bonus points and maltese to planche gets 0.1. inverted cross is very very difficult

  • of course yibing does both! simply amazing

  • thank you

  • how the fack is 0:54 humanely possible...

  • That's called a lock arm shoot to handstand. It's a D skill and, yes, it is very hard to do. : )

  • wow....u can see the relief on his face...i must say the pressure was enormous for every chinese athelete in this olympic

  • haha...the lord of the olympic rings!!!

  • Agree, any gymnastics coach who teaches rings should use this video as a lesson material.

  • Clean Routine

  • Textbook perfect!!

  • Chen Yibing is so cute

  • It's interesting that while this BBC guy loved the routine, it wasn't like Tim Daggett. Tim was going crazy, saying how it was "impossible" what he was doing. I think it was Tim's favorite routine of the whole Olympics. Personally I like Tim's commentary on this even if it wasn't as informative because it made viewers appreciate just how incredible Chen Yibing is rings, how much better he is than everyone else.

    Oh, and he's so cute!

  • Cute referring to Chen Yibing that is, not to Tim Daggett LOL

  • dude this little asian guy is a freakin beast! its a definite fact that no one is better than him.

  • Chen Yibing is the Lord of the rings!!! His routine is beautiful, I have watched it over and over..

  • Agree. He is the best.

  • After Chen's score came up, I love how Chen Yibin gestured to ask audience to be quiet because there were still gymnasts to compete on rings. Chinese always show great sportsmanship and gymnastics fans appreciate it.

  • yup thats there culture most people wouldnt do that

  • agreed.

  • @SpunkieMunkie thats not true he was the last routine because he qualified with the highest score going into event finals....

  • Amazing routine! And he's really cute, too!

  • he didn't qualify for the olympics, but he should have had a shot because hes like, the ONLY person in the world that can compete with chen yibing then

  • Absolutely beautiful gymnastics! Pure, elegant and perfect form!

  • keep uploading....... amzing
