  • The dorset naga was only rated 923k so its nowhere between 1-2 mill

  • @camcool1000 It depends when it was tested, state of maturity of the pepper as well as various other environmental effects. They range from around 900k SHU to around 1.6m SHU as a result. Well documented, the lab who did the Guiness world record test had one at 923k SHU. Which went in the book. Another they tested clocked in at 1,598,227 SHU but was not submitted for any records.

  • Spoke with Joy this year and received some great growing advice along with a few of the plug plants Sea Spring Seeds sells ... end result being a harvest of around 40 Naga peppers in Aug/Sep - conservatories being the best environment ... and pushed myself this year to eat three large Naga's in one go (and ensuring to munch each pepper so as to savour the seeds ;-D ... oh crikey!!!!! Pain/Pleasure threshold teetered on the balance but hasn't deterred me from going for 4 next year!

    It didn't inspire me to eat a dorset naga though, although I am growing a batch of them this year.

  • They are big enough to ship now but they are not flowering yet. Chilies are a tropical plant so if you put it in a pot, you can bring it in doors during frozen winter nights. If you get a 40watt compact fluorescent bulb and keep it about 6-8 inches above it, you can leave the light on for 14 hours a day and grow it in side during the winter.

    Doeset naga was bred from the Naga Morich.Dorset 960,000 SHU. the Bhut Jolokia from NMSU,1,001,304 SHU and the current guinness book holder..the Bih jolokia from Frontal Agritech in the Assam province of india was HPLC tested at 1,041,427 SHU.
