  • Hidding your pin, like I know where you live or what you look like you tool!

  • ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS HOLD DOWN THE

    "MODE" BUTTON...

  • Wow you listen to really boring music, faggot.

  • fuckin cool i got a new volkswagon a factory stero i think i cant even install a new stero in my passatt there to big an i heard they dont even make kits im bummed lol

  • dont know if this helps but on my sony head unit if you hold down the mode button it will switch over to ipod control on its own, and can keep it in the usb plug to charge while playing video and etc.

  • Umm memtool didn't find guess I gotta jail break it huh

  • Cool Music. I Love Casting Crowns

  • This isn't hacking...

  • Thanks, I'm going to go outside and try this. I also really liked your ipod holder, can you give me some info on it. Thanks

  • Hi KentuckyRangerPro!

That's a nice hack for the iPod Touch..

But would it be possible to use a 3rd Gen iPod Touch with an ALPINE CDA-9887 head unit?

I want to control the iPod Touch using the touch screen the same thing you did in the video.

    Thanks!

  • @jasonkiper did he reply to you?

  • Hmm dude, simply install the app 'memtool' on you ipod and kill the process that control the ipod w/ radio.

  • NICE...thanks i needed this!

  • i used to have a nano (3rd gen) and to control the music on the mp3 player all u had to do was like hit menu and the center button and it would unlock and allow you to use it.

That was good until someone smashed my window and took my ipod and gps (Stupid ***** left the sony player in though). Since then i got an ipod touch, which has been awesome.. but so annoying to play music in my stereo... im tempted to go out into my car and try this now but its 12am haha... If this works then thanks!

  • why not just get a 3.5mm to rca

  • nice accent buddy

  • I imagine it would but thought I'd ask. Would this trick work on a new iphone? I was thinking about getting one, and I have the exact same stereo. I wasn't sure if it would be compatible or not.

  • ******* SOLVED ***********

100% working patch method. Just plug in your iphone, itouch, ipod and you can control you music with iphone or headunit at the same time! Works on any OS version, any headunit (so far).

**Here it is(cant post address dunno why, so SEARCH IN GOOGLE FOR):

"iPhone MobileMusicPlayer Accessory Attached message.. Need a Hacker!"

Took me 1h reading and 5min work time, but just read activea's solution on page 5. Finally the headunit control problem is OVER :)))))

  • test123

  • AND no pwnplayer!!!! it was easier to do this all even without restarting the springboard... pwnplayer development is down for a long time..

  • does not work with 3.0!

  • Does this work with OS 3.0?

  • I really can't say, I sold the Car a few Months back.

I'd say it will though because the updated version shouldn't affect the interaction between the Stereo and iPod or iPhone.

  • hhey how do you put the support for the itouch i mean the way that you put it at 1:32 i want to stuck my ipod like that were do you buy the support (srry for my english)

  • why don't you just use the 3.5mm headphone jack? it does the same thing. Minus the "recovery mode"(restart more like) step.

  • Because when you use the Jack, the Phone won't recharge.

Yes, I made the mistake of calling it recovery mode but you still have to re-boot the iPod or Iphone in order to get the Sony from recognizing and displaying info on the Stereo, as well as playing Video.

  • Thanks for the hack, but just so you know, that wasn't in recovery mode. You just need to switch it off as per usual.

Recovery mode is holding the home and power buttons for longer and without swiping to power off.

  • Does that thing come with the cable to hook it up to the car or do you have to buy it separate? I am looking forward to buy that thing

  • Comment removed

  • uummm.... do u know why when i connect the ipod touch to my car stereo it dosent want to play the videos while is connected?

  • the kenwood kdc-X592 can switch from hu conrolled or ipod contolled. i just ordered it from crutchfield for 140$ with everthing

  • update: if you have jailbroken iphone, it's working by restarting only the "SpringBoard". You can dl an app that will do that for you by starting it. (app name "killSB")

This will save you more time, since it's a lot faster that a hard reset. Would be great to have an app that will do this trick for you with doing anything.

  • nice vide, hey listen is there anyway you can show a closer look at your mount?, thanks bro

  • Does your stereo charge it at the same time as it plays it? Just had this stereo installed a few days ago and it says that charging isn't supported for this connection. I have the 2nd gen touch.

  • I have heard that the 2nd gen Touch is quirky with compatibility.

Mine is the 1st gen and I haven't had any problems with charging.

Hopefully Apple will fix this in their next Firmware update.

You, as well as everyone else who owns this Stereo should contact Apple and Sony about the problem to bring it to their attention, then they'll know there's a problem and work on fixing it.

  • Where's the recovery mode? you're just turning it off and on!

Its sooo much easyer to just run it through AUX using a regular 3.5 mm jack... dumbass!

  • yeah, well maybe he likes it better this way because it can charge it all at the same time...DUMBASSS!

  • Turning the iTouch off is not the same as putting in recovery mode.

Recovery mode completely shuts it off and has to be done by pressing both the Home Button & Power Button at the same Time.

As for being easier to use the Aux Jack, I guess, if you like running 2 Cables (1 Aux 1 Power for charging) and living with the analog signal instead of the cleaner digital signal you get from the interface Cable then yes, it is easier...

  • ... really the 30 pin is cleaner?

I don't think so... i thought that it was the same signal, just a differet cable... (not all 30 frikin pins r used in audio)

then again... u do need to charge it. true..

  • The signal coming from the 30 Pin Connector is the direct, unprocessed digital signal.

The Signal coming from the Headphone Jack runs through the internal mixer and comes out as a mixed Analog Signal which isn't near as clean and yes, you can tell the difference, unless you're running it through a crappy Stereo with sucky Speakers...

  • i have the same set up well kinda differnt deck but same way to hook it up and all and i use to have a 3rd gen nano 8gb and it worked just fine and now i have a touch and it just keeps saying check check check its so gay so i got an itrip but it sucks cuz its got some static ne help?

  • Can this work with the sony gt630 somehow?

  • Does it charge the ipod ??

  • Yes it does charge it.

  • ***what i-touch car dock do you use in your car?***

  • It's built into the Stereo.

  • Thanks but what do you mean the i pod mount is built in the stereo?

  • I made the mount from a piece of PVC I had laying around.

The adapter that plugs into the iPod is part of the Stereo, that's what I meant to being built in.

  • hey, what sort of mount do you have for the ipod to have is sit there like that?

  • It's a piece of PVC I had in my spare part Box out in the Garage, I'm a Packrat... :O)

  • I know now its a PVC that you made to hold your ipod right! if so, can you show me how u made one, because your looks really great! thanks

  • Works on Alpine head unit too!!!!!! (ida-x200 + iphone 3g 2.1) Thank you so much for this hack, i was searching for this a few days. Just turn your pin code on and works as you said. Ps: i was thinking you should change the title of the video as not only sony... Thanks again

  • That's a good idea, my Title is too long and can be confusing.

  • awsome, how did u figure that and does this work for the regualar ipods?, i have a ipod 30gb

  • regular* lol

  • I'm not sure if it would work on regular iPods.

I just didn't like the idea of not being able to use the Touches intuitive interface with my Car Stereo.

It's much more distracting trying to figure out whee I'm at and search for songs with the Sony's system.

With the Touch all I have to do is flip through my Playlist and touch the Song I want to play, much safer that way.

  • That is very clean. i just got the exact same stereo, but i got the ipod classic, will it work with that? I dont know how to put it on recovery mode. i really hope it does.thank u

  • how the crap did you figure out how to do that?

  • thats cool im going to to do that to i bearley baught that same stereo today

  • its supposed to do that

  • Yes it is and it's a pain in the Butt trying to make your way through a large playlist via the Stereo.

  • what do you mean (i Hacked it )how???

  • If you plug the Touch in while it's on all control goes to the Stereo, you can't browse, play Videos or anything else, just play the Music content through the Stereo.

The Playlist on the Stereo looks OK but it's aggravating trying to navigate through a large playlist.

If you do what I show in the video you fool the Stereo into thinking there's no iPod Touch hooked up thereby keeping the ability to brows Playlists via the Touch.

  • I need your support for ipod touch ,where did you buy it?

  • My wife got if or me at WalMart for Fathers Day.
