Let us never forget that this wonderful song was NOT learned by flashing words up on the wall. It was learned because these people at some time in their lives sat down with a BOOK and learned to read the MUSIC.
Churches who have nothing BUT words flashed up on the wall will one day wake up to find that they traded away an important skill so they could be cool like the evangelical megachurches.
@bswitzer12 Unfortunately, that day is here in many churches. I sometimes attend a church that flashes stuff on the wall, but I use the hymnbook because I want to sing parts, and wish to match what is being played. I have seen times when the techno stuff failed, and people just simply dropped out. Of course, I was able to keep on to God's glory because I was reading and singing from the book!
Technology is not a bad thing, but I fear we have become way too tied to it lately.
@AmosPressley Agreed. It's hard to sing in parts when everyone else is singing melody.... I just hope that the church's ability to sing in parts isn't lost.
My heart has been needing to hear this version of the Doxology. I'm so glad I finally found it on youtube. I am Brethren and have mixed feelings about the "Blue Hymnal" but I was so glad they put this in it. I just love singing it. Your congregation sings this very well. I would love it if someone could upload it again with better sound quality.
