I watched the thunderbirds in New Mexico last weekend and they definitely startled me. ...Look at the 4 planes flying in pretty formation...*sneak pass* everyone jumps.
Facts are that each country's display teams use different craft to suit their display style... the Arrows require highly manuverable but slow jets, the Angels need faster more powerful craft... you couldn't expect the Arrows to do their display using the Angels jets! They are ALL amazing pilots, no matter which country they hail from
The Reds seem to have more affinity with the Canadians than the Americans - guess thats history for you . The American ground crews are all part of the show, and the way the pilots walk to the aircraft like ducks in a row & peel off is hilarious - in a nice way - do they have to have flip-chart training sessions to do that as well lol . Try getting the British blue-suit ground crew involved like that - the answer would be a resounding F.O. methinks
Like yankeethunder1 says, vive la difference! The Red Arrows are showmen in training aircraft with tradition of entertaining the crowd and do everything where the crowd can see them. The Thunderbirds, whose pilots show tremendous class here, are powerhouses in extreme fighter aircraft. The mutual respect is what's impressive here.
@machineman9 im not british neither am i American. Just have to say.. USAf . 1 , RAF .2 , F22 . F35, F15. says enough, F15 has a 0 loss-record. still the RAF would be 2nd for me, or Russia.
Sure, the Leagacy Hornet I agree, But I'm talking about the F/A 18 E-F modles. As a matter of fact there working on either a GE 505 or P.W F series that would put out 26K lbs of thurst each,
As a matter of fact I would put a Super Hornet over an F-15 C/D any day.
Yeah, I'll take on your Euro (notice its not British) with the U.S Navy's F/A 18 Super Hornet in day of the week, scew the Airforce, although there really nothing in comparison the F/A 22 Rator. But O'well
United States military teams seem to go for a 'big and powerful aeroplane' approach. The UK seems to go for agility and performance. I prefer the Reds to the others... And I think some the US traditions for how the Airmen work is a bit silly.
Well the F-18 and F-16 are actually exreemly agile aircraft capable of some amazing stunts, you can see an F-18 doing some very interesting manouvers at the end of the clip, i forget it's name now but it requires a great deal of control i would imagine.

Everytime, throughout the whole documentary, the wing commander's right rank slide always seems to be bigger than the left.. hmmm

Humm, no apologies for having the most powerful and most capable Air-force in the world. Geez, even the British narrator says it 5:26 -
The point is... they ALL are G-R-E-A-T but different. Just enjoy the spectacle and the airplanes!

@yankeethunder1 Well of course, the USAF is HUGE. I still have a soft spot for the Red Arrows which are far more entertaining.

'Most capable and advanced Air Force in the world'... The USAF said that in front of the RAF? Are they asking for a beating? Eurofighter, thanks.

Keep dreaming pal, the USAF is much more advanced than the RAF, and always will be.
TonyDog360 2 years ago
They do have more powerful aircraft. That just leaves 'most capable'. If they mean, 'have the best all-round pilots', I'd say it was false.
BertoCalvi 2 years ago
Who gives a rat's ass. It's not like the USAF is going to fight head to head with the RAF...

@dmangham Yea, that record doesnt count..... its about air to air supriority.. ground kill this was. air to air loss count is 0.

@machineman9 Against an F-18 sure. Against an F-22 not so sure. It would be a fantastic duel.

Super Hornet???
mojame100 6 months ago
@mojame100 I meant a Eurofighter would best an F-18 but I would take an F-22 over a Eurofighter. Hope that clears it up.

I agree with some of that, but flying a boring plane like the T-45 for hi porformance is a bit silly to, I just rather see a L-39.
