Yes those were joints, those boys were hitting the spliffs hard why else would they be outside of a jazz club smoking. This was the 50's
and yes they did have pre rolled ciggies, they had them alot earlier than that. My mom was a Chesterfield girl during WW2 after that she switched to Tarytons.
@QueenBee1965 ~ Most cigarettes were NOT hand-rolled: Chesterfields, Lucky Strikes, Old Golds, Phillip Morris, Camels, Pall Malls, Tareytons, etc. Not that many people, especially in urban areas, rolled their own.

Uuuhhh, those weren't joints. ha ha haaaa. Back then most cigarettes were unfiltered and were HAND rolled. No fancy rolling machines until the 60's
