Sweep Picking Lesson

Man thats tight! I've been trying to get my sweeps clean, but I can't do it without risking to palmmute the notes.

I'm havimg trouble muting the G string. Particularly on shapes like the Am three string arpeggio starting on the 14th fret when descending, any ideas how to deal with this?

Michael angelo batio( he is the cleanest player ever) mutes with his Fretboard hand, Do you know he does that?

No you just have to be less close minded about guitarists. Micheal Romeo is cleaner, Paul Gilbert is cleaner and much more creative of a player than Batio, to name a few

I'd agree with zakkrandydimshrd.

Paul Gilbert is by far the cleanest shredder I've heard and can pick up speeds that MAB can without even sweeping.

It sounds like you've only listened to the most mainstream shredders. Dig deeper dude. :)

I'm pretty sure the best way is to thumb mute.

Look at Tom Hess, Mike Phillippov, and Zack Uidl..

You make it clean as he says around 1:10, you have to mute with the flesh of your hand that you pick with. Dont let the notes ring out by quickly taking your finger off the note so it does not ring and muting all other strings with your palm. Practice makes perfect and obviously this guy has done his practicing.
