My favorite mini series of all time book is a million times better the best book ever written They need to remake it in to a movie have all the characters from the uncut version including the Kid..Rita Blakemore who Larry comes out of New York with how Nadine is originally in the Book with Joe/Leo and the they ruhn into Lucy.add more to it from the book than the did in the mini series and Yes the Dayna Biker scene
If there ever was a movie..it would have to more developed than the "lord of the rings". I'm thinking 6 movies a la Star Wars style..that set up would give the book room for depth. Only that..anything else cheapens it.
I have seen the movie about 40 and i love it!!! i even wore out the vhs it was on! i had to get the movie burned on cd! i really need to read the book already! I really hope they do a real feature movie!!
Looks like we're finally going to get a feature film version of The Stand. I've read the statement on a couple of movie sites today. Fingers crossed that it will happen and that it will be awesome.
I like the movie, probably seen it 20 times, but they really need to remake it and stay with the characters in the uncut version of the book. The Kid.... Nadine being the original woman with the little boy Joe (Leo), the diaries Fran & Harold kept, the shootout with the bikers that were holding Dayna & other women as slaves/hostages. Big difference between all the characters from the book to the movie but still my all time favorite.
99.4% of the population died actually leaving approx 1million across the world. But in a interview he said the number is not accurate due to the chaos and deaths following. Other than that very well thumbs up.
I'd love to see a remake of 'The Stand'. It isd definitely my favorite King's novel ever, and it's ver underdone in the actual TV serie. They cut off too much stuff. A three-part movie a trilogy like LOTR, would make iot more justice! Hoping it's done one day... *sigh* This movie would kick ass!
im reading the book at the moment. I think if they remake "the stand" they have to do it in pieces and without cutting too much away from what the book is about. I'm sick and tired of seeing films where the director works his ass off to fit it into a time slot when any fans of "the stand" know that its such a suspenseful story that it could be a trilogy in three seperate volumes. An i dont see why a studio would complain seeing as they'd just make more money off of three parts.
well, i think the problem is where to stop it. It would be gay to stop a movie right when some disease infection starts spreading and certainly stupid to stop it in the middle. I just read the books, This guys books are amazing and scary as hell. Much better than the movies
what the fuck is he on about?...the trash can man is not a ruthless monster, he's a man with problems, he's a fire bug, he loves fire, ever since he was a small child. in other words he has some kind of retard problem, second, "choke to death on thier own flem", the virus eats away just about everything inside the body, and then they die an unpleasent death. choke to death....as if..yeah the film was good, but if you want a better version read the fucking book. or watch the film. this is crap.
it's time for the independent authors to rise from the bottom of the pile and take our place at the top where we belong!!!!!!! visit my channel....we need to change the game...sick of these agents and publishing houses? i know i am.
On my "Subterranean Cinema" rare film website (the location is listed in my profile), youll find a screenplay for the version that was going to be created by George Romero (before the clowns in suits at Warner Brothers pulled the plug). Check it out there for FREE and see if you dont agree with me that it was much closer to the dark spirit of the book than the vapid TV version, which would have been more at home on the Hallmark Channel or the Trinity network (probably with Kirk Cameron as Nick).
oh my god, this guy is totally wrong. 93% don't die... it's loads more; and they don't choke on their own blood, they die of really really bad flu. Mucus chokes them and they get big black marks around their eyes.
If you people like this, you should read the book, it's so much better. Trust me, it's the best thing I've ever read and I've read 12 of his other books.
Oh and GettysburgGhost, he doesn't say "Bum-de-bum!' hey says "Bumpty-bumpty-BUMP! Ciii-boooo-LA! BUMPTY-BUMPTY-BUUMMP!"
yeah that miniseries was hella crap !! i do think it was fairly well casted but early in his career stephen king said in a magazine "television is that magic medium that turns everything it touches into shit" and he sold out after that !but never were his original words more correct than in this adaptation of his book !!
Hey guys, I found a really creepy illustrated picture in the book. It's like one of the plauge victims standing with like a cloth over them and a hand on their shoulder.
Well there is ALWAYS a chance somewhere down the road with this being remade (Carrie, Salem's Lot, The Shining, The Dead Zone are good examples). Molly Ringwald was the wrong choice as Frannie, by the way.
they should make a remake of the movie with up to date things and same with the book, also any1 notice that a simaler thing to the virus getting realaseed has recently happened and alot of people are dieing from it,scary. If this ever does happen i hope i do die, because i dont wanna stay and fight flag(devil) :P
Nice vid, seriously. The Stand has influenced me in many ways, to the point where I found myself jotting down quotes from the book (check out my page). I was in tears, though, when La Camisa Negra came on. Hilarious!
I wonder if King would ever rewrite The Stand to take place in the 00s, the way he updated it in 1990. Digital communication would probably change things here and there and even though the Stand is meant as an American fable I'm sure the rest of the world would get more of a mention
I saw this miniseries when I was 13 and loved it. Im 25 now and am almost finished reading the uncut version. If The Stand was to be remade, imagine the effects. It would be amazing. But, after reading Frannie Goldsmith I feel like Molly Ringwald wasn't the best choice, almost like she wasn't strong enough person to play her. just my opinion. Im trying to think of who would play her better but am drawing a blank.
They should also dd Tom saving Nick in the Tornado that was one of my favorite parts in the book

And fuck a trilogy. If you're gonna do The Stand you just do it, and if it comes out to be four and a half movies that's what it'll be.

Why Han's Zimmer's Promontory from Last of the Mohicans? I love that track but Don't Fear The Reaper would have fit much better.
RuinerxxSINCITY 2 years ago
True, but YouTube is strict with what songs they allow to pass copyright.
MeatballsMarlowe 2 years ago
That isn't by Hans Zimmer, it's by Randy Edelman and Trevor Jones.
redrabbitjohnson 2 years ago
Well fuck me, you are right. Thank you for the clarification. Atleast I got the name "Promontory" correct. lol

if they remake this agen but with everything left in the uncut edition i wud wonder who wud play ray flowers, rita blakemoor and especially the Kid
TheAlmightyAss 2 years ago
i read the uncut version so thats 1200 pages, theres no way they could fit that in to a 6 hour movie. they cut out charecters.
