I remember that I cried at the first time, then my father showed me the disney version and everything went ok.

  • When I was liitle I was so scared of the wolf I'd cover my ears and look away.

  • i love the wolf he's sooooooo funny

  • Obrigado por postar o video. Foi ótimo relembrar este clássico da minha infância

  • i was so scared of th wolf!!!

  • i REMEMBER SEEING THIS IN KINDERGARDEN AND THE WOLF WOULD SCARE US SO BAD WE WOULD SHUT OUR EYES WHEN HE GRAWLED HA HA HA

  • 6:10 on wouldn't go very well in areas where wolves were being reintroduced.

  • poor sasha =(

  • YEAH

  • I first saw this cartoon when I was about 5 years old (but in german). Man, was that wolf scary! Sterling Holloway was a GREAT disney voice-actor (like in "Dumbo", "Alice in Wonderland", "Aristocats" or "Ben and Me"). Rest in Peace, we won't foget you!

  • Great story! I love these type of stories interpreted my Disney!

  • That wolf is a good swimmer! I wonder what else he can do!

  • I was reading my childhood books when I found Peter and the Wolf one, and I remembered the music, so I wanted to watch it again (along with Pablo the penguin's one)

Thanks so much for uploading it!

  • oh man the wolf was scary as heck when I was a kid! Great story telling, back when Disney was top notch. I miss those days

  • I miss those days too :(

  • I remember the first time I saw this, I was like five, loved it, still do, but I was a creepy kid back then, I'd love my children to watch this.

  • what does the sign in the ice say? 1:25

  • who knows. probably thin ice or something like that.

  • it means thin ice

  • this is the creepiest cartoon i have ever seen holy shmokes, i was seven when i saw this first. ridiculous

  • the wolf's eyes were in my nightmares for years....i feel your pain

  • I love Sonia!!! she is so cool. she looks sleepy or chilling. is that a girl or a boy?

  • they re all boys...well in the original story

  • rofl the cat!!!!

  • What a trip...

  • gracias a quien subio este video

    lo buscaba por todos lados

ahora quiero ver "pedro y el lobo"

    en español no esta=(

  • I absolutely love this movie. I was really small when I first watched it. Now I am hopefully doing my Masters in music and i understand the music more. We're going to be learning about Serge Prokofiev in History of Music class, but I already know I love all his works. Walt isn't wrong when he says " the late GREAT composer" I personally put him in as one of my favourite composers.

  • Yay! Sonya is alive!! lol This brings back so many memories...

  • I remember this from my days as a small child. Watching this short through again brought back so many memories.

  • "You you you BEAST!" -best line :-)

  • I <3 Vladimir

  • i haven´t words...incredible it was my chilhood :):D

  • lol wolf in spanish is bonk hahaha

  • ... I'm Spanish, and wolf is "lobo", not "bonk". The tale is called "Pedro y el lobo".

  • волк is how you spell wolf in Russian. It looks like English letters, but it's actually Cyrillic letters, so you pronounce it like "volk" not bonk :P Notice the narrator says "W-O-L-F" as the bird writes it in the snow?

Anyway, the person who posted this vid isn't Spanish, he/she wrote the title in Portuguese. (Pedro e o Lobo)

  • well prokofiev was russian. . . .so i am guessing it has russian origins

  • I think this story has SPARTAAAAAAAAAN origins.

  • ok ok,I am not a "Cartoon boy" and my Cable doesnt have disney chanel. And i said russian only cuz those were russian hunters...at least I think they are.Boy you people get mad for everylitle word.

  • woooooooow

  • people are so retarded. I love wolves and put thoughts into the minds of the youth to think a wolf is a bad animal, will eventually cause wolves to be extinct. I know it's just a kids story but the ending is a little too much for me to handle. No offense to the guy who uploaded this video.

  • So...you'd rather it end with the wolf EATING the little boy? Or the hunters shooting the wolf? What kind of ending would you prefer? Lol...

  • I think what he ment by the ending being to much is that the people are way too overjoyed just because of a so called bad wolf which it obviously was. but in the end they all acted kinda like all wolves are the devil.

  • Its just a cartoon, a kid story. A "bad wolf" is very popular in kid stories. Peter and the Wolf, The Three Little Pigs, and Little Red Riding hood. It's just a cartoon. You shouldn't take any offense to it.

  • Actually, most of those stories have evolved and rewritten, with a more sympathetic view on the wolf. Fables for instance does this.

  • i think the story mas made and told as a cautionary tale in a time and place that would seem to us a different world. the black forests of old russa the winters could be long, the forest around you could be death, a dark place, people feared the dark, there were many animals in the forest you could get lost and die, many storys were told around a fire to pass the time when not working.

  • when telling storys they may be wood carving, tales like this were for childern hoping they would heed the advise and never go into the forests alone, and who knows after a long winter, there was no game maby the wolves did get hungry enough to hunt human.

  • Good!It's happy end!

  • Haha! Go Sasha, go!

  • thanks for posting this - i've been looking for it all over. makes me feel like i'm six again!

  • If we gave them food, they would become dependent. Domestic dogs w/out an owner-or worse.

  • peter looks like a blond pinochio

  • well acctualy disney did make pinochio mybye they just liked the look and copied it but im sure this was made before pinochio

  • This was in 1946. I think Pinnochio was b/n Snow White & Bambi in the early 1940's/late 1930's

  • Yeah Pinocchio was in 1940, Bambi in 1942, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was 1937.

  • How'd Peter get the rope? He didn't have it in the beginning. Must have called Uncle Walt on his cell phone.

  • come on its just a cartoon things dont have to make sence

  • They made it while they were sitting up there. :P

  • That was supposed to explain niflap's question about how they got the rope btw. They made it while they were sitting up there watching the bird do all the work.

  • poor wolf! D8

    technically, he didn't do anything...XD

  • True. After being captured at the end he must have been thinking "This just isn't my day!"

  • I remember getting so caught up in this movie when I was a kid, I'd be holding on to my dad scared for my life, then crying, then jumping for joy at the end.

  • I know! I remember crying as a kid when I thought Sonya the duck died.

    Good memories.

  • Yellow eyes with red pupils. Pretty scary if you ask me.

  • Sometimes I wondered to myself about the part where the cat unknowingly gets under the wolf and feels his belly with his tail. Now that I think of it; wouldn't the wolf be ticklish from that?

  • Sharp claws for a canid.

  • I like how the wolf looks confused at 3:29!

  • i used to be so scared of the wolf lol i had recurring nightmares of him and his eyes

  • So did I! I used to be terrified of him along with his theme music! That is until the day I studied wolves and found out how misleading this was. But this is still good at memory.

  • In some ways, wolves are even more lethal in real life. Peter & his friends were not 10 times the wolf's size. This wolf hunted alone & picked on smaller prey. You're right- however in that wolves are very cautious, & usually respect Man's power.

  • Good point.

  • so nostalgic

  • at 0:16... scary stuff!

  • LOL XD hahhaha

the part where the cat finds the wolf is funny!!!

  • funny for us, scary for little kids.

  • LOL truetrue... i think that's the ONE part that scared me in my childhood, LOL XD hahha

  • Me too! the eyes... I think they scared me the most

  • dude, i KNOW, man!!! XD those eyes make that wolf look craazzzzyyy!!!

that wolf belongs in a mental hospital!!! LOL JPJP HAHAHHAHA

  • I'm a girl! but I agree that the wolf beongs in a mental hospital! LMAO ROFL!!!!!

  • hahah ey, you know the music part when peter and ivan the cat are saving the little bird, i thought that the music was HILARIOUS!!!

    DUHDUHDUH DUUUUUUUUHHHHNNNN, duhduhduh hahahhhaha XD

  • made my day P:-)

  • When the wolf makes his entrance in this segment, man. That part always scared the hair off my neck.

  • Does it almost make you think of the character Scut Fargus, especially the music, from Christmas Story?

  • yes it's the same music! I knew I had heard it before!!

  • Gotta love the cat!

  • oh Sonia you crazy mallard...

Can't blame that wolf duck is pretty good...

Silly commies should know their are no hero's in Russia...

  • That is one of the most absurd things I've ever heard, there are no heroes in Russia? Who defeated Hilter? Just in case you don't know it was Russians, millions of Russian Heroes defeated Hitler.

  • Problem was Russian leadership(Stalin)& the way he slaughtered returning Russian POW's.

  • omg i love this story so much when i was litte . my mother named me after the duck sonia thats why i always love the story ^__^

  • don't stand that way! don't stand that way either! lol!

  • lol

  • omg...i love the cat's reaction when they first run into the wolf...so funny...

  • I love Sasha beating up the wolf hahaha

    Poor Sonia :(

  • Woops, nevermind, wrote that before getting to the end

  • ...Say, wait... Was this story made back when Russia was called the Soviet Union?

  • Well the story maybe not, but the music and narrative was, in fact it was commissioned by the Soviet government. Stalin aimed for composers to focus on music that would appeal to the masses, so composers like Prokofiev pulled heavily from Russian folk traditions to make music which many Russians could relate to. This was one of the results. Not saying Stalin was a good guy, and the message of this narrative was a populist one rather than an exclusively communist one.

  • Hmm, interesting.

  • The story was written during Soviet times, in 1936 actually. The story is the music.

  • It was implied that the duck was eaten... Ahh well, it's Disney, after all.

  • LOL at 0:18 the cat sounds like donald duck

  • WOAH! at 0:17 that scared me!!!! jibble jiblle billibe jibble

  • Scary! The wolf appears to be smiling at 1:15!

  • the cat more like a duck then a cat lol

  • it was smiling...

  • I think you mean "HE" was smiling. After all, the narrator said "And they found HIM". But thanks for correcting me.

  • gosh i havent seen tha film since i was a kid lol

will have to hunt for the video :P

  • i know!!! :D the last time i saw this was more than 10 years ago, LOL :D

if anyone goes to cerritos hs and has this video, can you PLEASSEEE make me a copy?? i will sooo pay you!!!

man, you gotta love Pokellan for posting this!!! :D this person made my day!!!

  • Am I the only person who laughed that the bird wrote BONK in the snow (yes, I know it was Russian for wolf) and the the hunters peed their pants?

  • is it weird to anyone else the way that the narrorator talkes for all of the characters?

  • I'm guessing you ripped this off the original "Make Mine Music" music 'cause when it was released as a seperate short, it had the "The End: A Walt Disney Production" thingy.

  • Great cartoon, beautiful music.

  • damn,I still hate this f.cking wolf

  • I was always suspicious of that wolf, I must say.

  • being repetitive: thank you so much for posting this. many years have past since i last watched it, i loved as a child. i've always wanted to play the clarinet just because of ivan the cat... brought back sweet memories.

  • I used to have this tape and a book when I was little

  • thanks alot for putting this up, it really is a wonderful classic. i haven't seen this since i was a little kid and it brought back some nice memories

  • thanks for posting!

  • I dunno, being swallowed and still being alive with no hope of getting out dosn't even sound bitter sweet. That's a horrible way to be eaten. I remember one version where a hunter slaps the wolf and the duck pops out though.

  • The hunters always crack me up :D Thank you for posting this!

  • Hunters need to learn gun safety

  • I remember seeing this in elementary school when we were being taught about different instruments. I also played it in high school. I played the part of Ivan the cat, since I played clarinet. However, I don't like Disney for changing the ending. In the real story, Sonya does get eaten by the wolf. However, the ending is sort of bitter sweet because she was only swallowed whole, so you get to hear the last of her in the wolf's stomach. I know, weird, but I like it better than Disney's version.

  • The wolf isn't as scary as he was when I was little, but still pretty creepy today.

  • I never saw this when I was little. Thanks!!

  • I remember watching this when I was little. That wolf always scared me.

  • i agree
