  • Got the original vinyl. what harmony!

  • HI-LO´s stórlega vanmetnir áhrifavaldar og forverar Manhattan Transfer, Four Freshmen , Beach Boys og ekki síst Take Six í hnausþykkum fjórrödduðum söng...

  • Check out Perpetuum Jazzile for

a great version of one of Gene's arrangements, Killing Me Softly.

  • I was raised, listening to this remarkable, innovative and extremely talented group. I LOVE them. My mom bought the album which contained this song. I would listen to it for hours. They had beautiful voices, perfect pitch and harmony....impeccable. I was 8 years old in 1957. The present group, which comes closest to their style, is Take 6. They sing and harmonize beautifully....I wouldn't be surprised if Take 6 was influenced by the Hi Lo's.

  • @MALP1231 Take 6 is my favorite a cappela group and when I just started listening to Take 6 at the beginning they would mention the Hi-Lo#s as one of their influences....that's when I looked up these guys and fell in love! As you rightly said....impeccable!!!!

  • @mozart77 Thank you for that information. I think Take 6 is the top when it comes to A capella singing and jazz harmonies. I've always loved the Hi-Lo's as well, and I didn't realize they were an influence on Take 6.

  • These guys harmonisations/blend are perfect....you hear every chord clearly!!!

  • thanks for posting this song i remember my dad played it when he was even younger than i am now (65) the very modern Frank Comstock big band; i loved it then when i was about ten i think, and i love it today and i enjoyed all what came between then and now

  • I had nat king cole version live in Paris of this....great as you can imagine but these cats killed it with those ahrmonies and falsettos.Reminds me of the old disney soundtracks LOVE IT

  • love it!

  • This is Awesome, & is from the great Nat King Cole TV show from around 1959

  • thankyou thankyou thankyou for posting!!!! :)

  • They are truly the greatest ever!! I have every LP and CD they recorded.

  • Gene Puerling's arrangements for this group were (and still are) so surprisingly hip.

  • With all due respect, NrZol, the "new things" that everybody's listening to is unqualified and unmitigated garbage, musical;ly speaking. Charlie Parker's one chorus is worth more than all that BS.

  • These gus were the first, they were real pioneers! Gene was a genius arranger and Clark hard the voice to deliver!

  • WOW, a Hi-Lo's LP cover come to life! This is SO cool. THANK YOU for putting it on YouTube! - William Carroll, Denham Springs, Louisiana

  • The HI-LOS are excellent foursome that came up with fantastic voices blending. Wow..these four guys are also individually, instrumentalist.Progressive jazz singing...BRAVO!

  • Does anyone have "I'll never smile again " which they sang with Frank Sinatra on one of his shows. If you haven't seen it then you are missing a very special ttreat I promise. Can anyone post it please ?

  • Recontraformidables. Perfectamente acoplados, densidad armónica, no dejan vacíos. Afinados. Son nuestros papás.

  • It's obvious that Take 6 listened and studied the Hi-Lo's. They are so smooth. I wish singing like this was still in vogue. I find it romantic, smooth everything that makes a girl's heart flutter.

  • @nrivers3 Check out some of the more recent Barbershop quartet champions. They sing a lot that would be right up your alley!

  • nobody knows this stuff. everybody listens to new things, plus nobody heard of the HiLo's lol

  • It Doesn't get any better.

  • I have this on VHS somewhere. LOVE those close harmonies! The Hi-Lo's were ahead of their time! I got the chance to see them live several years ago. Perfection!

  • Great close harmony group in fine Barber shop tradition

  • Absolutely stunning! These guys are still easy on the ears. Best vocal group ever.

  • This was my favorite album and song when I was in 1st grade.(My Mom & Dad had a great record collection) These cats can sing! THANKS FOR POSTING!!!!
