Yeah it sounded weird.. And I can tell because I've broken cymbals aswell... Anyway, if you do get a new crash, I would recommend something not as heavy as a rock crash. Maybe a medium thin or medium 19" or 20" on the Zildjian A Series? Heavier cymbals have a bigger possibility of breaking faster due to it's hard and heavy consistency. And if you add to that the hard crashing of a hard rock song, you got yourself a broken cymbal :D
