  • She really is amazing. One wonders what other great singers thought when listening to her. I imagine them smiling and shaking their heads, listening. To my uneducated ear, no one does it better than Chris. How fortunate it was to see her on her 1992 tour. If someone has the original Atlantic 1228 album (I believe the newly released version has several B-takes substituted), I hope it can be digitized and put online.

  • I learned how to sing because of Chris Connor, and had the pleasure of seeing her live in Rochester, NY

  • One of the great Jazz singers, she had individual style and in a class all her own may she RIP. There is going to be some great entertainment up there.

  • I can't belive this talent is gone. So lucky I have her albums to keep me company especially on those rainy gloomy days!!

  • Great singer...................

  • Always loved her.

  • I just found out that she is gone. The world was a much better place with Chris Connor.

  • I am late with this tribute... Chris was the best... the very best! She was incomparable... How I will miss her... her voice... her phrasing... her songs... her cool interpretations... all these will live on... I never did have the opportunity to see her in person... how sad... but as with all her fans... we have her records... some of my favorites... 10 Cents a Dance... On the First Warm Day... Moonlight in Vermont... God Bless You Chris...

  • I always dreaded the day we would lose Chris. She was so much a part of my childhood and growing up. As I got to tell her face to face her records and music opened up a whole new world of possibility for me. I knew there was something out there waiting though I didn't what it was or where it was. She always evoked sophistication and freedom for me. An irreplaceable artist you can be sure people will be listening to 100 years from now.

  • Always loved her records. Chris sings the Gentle BossaNova is a favorite. Could kick myself for never going to see her live at Gulliver's in Jersey when I had the chance.

  • My fondest farewell to you, Miss Connor. You'll live on each time we hear your voice, or those who haven't shared your talent come to discover you. It's so sad to say goodbye, but sweet to think of you and June Christy serenading all our old friends, literally, "somewhere there's music..." So please say hi to Stan too! Peace.

  • One of the finest, most emotionally charged vocalists that ever lived. Talent like hers is very rare and i'm so sorry to hear of her passing. She's totally irreplacable. Chris's "Ballad For The Sad Cafe" remains one of the most atmospheric & tear jerking torch songs ever sung.

  • Nice tribute to a great voice. Thanks for posting.

  • I was just trying to deal with Michael Jackson's death, then this comes along. What's goin on in this damn world?

  • Thanks & Goodbye Chris. But your voice will be my friend forever. Rest in Peace.

  • Chris was lovely, gentle and the embodiment of class! She will be greatly missed by her many many fans! Thank you for a lovely tribute!

    -Peace Clark

  • RIP Chris Connor-

  • Jason thank you so much for doing this, and all you have ever done to keep Chris' name out there.

Many are feeling this loss very deeply, right along with you. Loved her since the first time I ever heard her. June Christy - and then some!!! I especially appreciate this knowing how hard it was for you to do this, since I know you are out of the country "serving us". God bless always, stay well - and safe!
