  • I like this song...

  • i just want to have want is own to me. the love for my daddy and all of my family & friends. diane w. 610 mccabe ave 7-30-11. i wish i could have my daddy back. but i know he's in a better place. i am 48 and clean and loving every minute of it.

  • To his credit Rod Stewart did not try to duplicate the Persuaders classic original recording and I'm almost certain that it was out of respect from one artist to another. Like James Taylor, Rod did his take on a song he obviously liked a great deal, and it's all good. Where the Persuaders are concerned, they can be sure that no one will ever capture the heart and soul that went into this song.

  • @sameeh109 I could be wrong but I am pretty sure The Main Ingredient charted big time with this song. Too bad their version is not posted.

  • this is the underwater mix

  • It let me know Rod was listening to good old soul music. Why disrespect when he was appreciating the love of soul r/b music. Also I like Rod version too.

  • The guys hit #39 in Billboard, 12-22-73. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • Figures. This is a good song. And Rod Stewart is wack.

Makes sense that this song was by a group like this!

Typical. Respect to The Boogie Down.

  • @p6licenthiev9s why are you dissing rod stewart?

  • these brothers are baaad musically

  • A reality song !

  • I had just mattied when this song came out me and my husband used to sing it to each other all the time. Eventho we are now divorced when sing it together

  • Thanks anyway, I was able to purchase it off of amazon.

  • It's sad that this is the only version of this song by the Persuaders, it's not very clear. In the 70's when this record out, it was very popular. Then of course in the 80's Rod Stewart came out with his version. If someone can get a clearer version it would be a very nice tribute to these guys.

  • @sancho3124 I agree. This was a very beautiful track by this gruop. PLEASE, someone find a post with better quality. These boys to be SINCERELY recognized!!!!

  • @sancho3124 I posted this song on my video page which is from the 45rpm. Crystal clear sound!

  • Hit #7 soul, #39 pop in Billboard. Rod Stewart did a credible cover. God bless!

  • Thanks 4 da post been looking 4 this gem 4 years!

  • There are some great versions of this song out there. My favorite is by Maxi Priest..He really captures the essence of what he tune is about.

    Phil Hurtt

  • TRUTH #2.. "All Strung out on you" supposed writer Leroy Butler.. not so.

Writers Phil Hurtt /Tony Bell Album ..The

best thing that ever happen.Produced by the late Tony bell (Thom's baby brother) ( the late LeBaron Taylor and yours truely..I also had the pleasure of singing

background vocals with Smokey and the Mighty Persuaders on the album, it was a great time and they were and they are a great group.Far too many lies out there, some of us have passed while lies live on. Phil Hurtt

  • TRUTH..tThis song was written in 1973,

the song ( deemed unacceptable by the label was submiited to me to see what i could do with it. I kept the title wrote all fo the lyrics, my partner Tony Bell re-wrote the music. We wrote most of the songs on the album. I made sure that Jeff Fortgang's name remained on the song, even though we used very little of it.When the album was released our names were missing. Ask Jeff, he's a dentist in Mass. same deal with the song "all strung out" Phil Hurtt

  • @shemya60 ,Great to hear you verbalising out there, it’s bound to hurt when one works to the best of their ability, then receives absolutely no credit for it, as we all know credit equates to royalties also.

It’s a real shame, but as I stare at the album's writing credits, I for one will never forget who really wrote “Some Guy’s Have All The Luck”, glad to see it hasn’t swallowed you up!.

Sierra Hurts doing a fine job,..Keep On!

  • Derrick Harriot's version is amazing. So's Junior Tucker's but good luck finding it on youtube.

  • wow i thought rod stewart did the original. didnt realize it was 60's song! i think i like this version better, rod stewart is too raspy and too "rockin" for this kind of song. great lyrics, i can totally relate. seeing other ppl in love but your alone, it cuts through you like butter.

  • ^^^You know what, I thought Rod Stewart created this!!! Just another Elvis...steal from the brothers and became a muti platinum artist. Just SMH and not b/c I don't like Rod or his version of the song but see...why can't the ones who originated the song(s) be given their due propers for it!!!!

    Sry for the rant.

  • totally agree!!

  • Rant , shit speaking the truth bro!.... go tell from the mountains....

  • ditto 123jigga, it's ok to rant when you are speaking the truth, seriously though I thought the only other version was by reggae singer Derrick Harriot

  • nice post and good info. great job man!!

  • I''m truly loving these songs it takes me back in time! Thank you so much!

  • give us more of The Persuaders! dig, dig dig until you find Bad Bold and Beautiful Girl, that's what you are, You're a wild warm and wonderful thing, indeed you are. All your parts and pieces are in the right places as any other girl, it's true. then it's that little part, I can't quit get, and it goes on to say you are the finest girl in the world , just to get to you. you got me wrap up so tight before I switch I rather fight , why why , ah you know why cause you'r a bad bold beautiful etc.

  • Then it's: "But I'd step over ten of the finest girls in the world, just to get to you. Cause you've got me wrapped up to tight, Before I'd switch I'd rather fight. Why, why, you know why - cause you're a bad bold & beautiful girl, that's what you are. You're a wild, warm and wonderful thing, indeed you are. You are...etc...

  • Please upload their song "Bad Bold and Beautiful Girl" cause that's what I am. If you can dig this classic gold soul up I do believe you can find this one. Please let me known as soon as you find it. ONE LOVE

  • simply one of the best songs that a man can sing to express his deep feelings about this love thing. Sing it bro.

  • I can understand the words of this song as for a long time in my life this song was me when i was in high school. thank you.

  • Never knew the "Rod Stewart" song was a cover! This version is slower, while Rod's was more uptempo. I like the '70's soul sound.

  • i agree, i really like this version the best. much more pleasant but WHY isnt this version on itunes??

  • I can relate to this song no matter who sings it. I can dig it any which way.

  • great song

  • Truly The Best..

  • I use to feel this way untill I found out he was a two bit nobit mother fucker I hope he uses viaga for his knew girl because the sex was terrible when he could get hard it was still a waste of time

  • the year is 1975 the place is bowie state college this was the number onne song on my oldies show

  • The best version! Authenic Soul!

  • like this version, prefer maxi priests version though. Got to give Rod some respect though, his version might not be as good as the other two but he is still going strong after almost forty years in the business. Respect where its due.

  • Yes, by the Persuaders, this in the version I heard growing up, until Rod Stewart covered this song, a lot of people thought it was his, but it is not, the Persuaders version is the best!

  • yes this is the best version of this song

  • とても素敵な曲。ロバート・パーマー、ロッド・スチュアートのカバーもそれぞれ素晴らしいが、この何とも言えないソウル感はやはりオリジナルならでは。

  • so rod stewart did a cover of this?

  • Ok here's how it go's. This song was written by Jeff Fortgang. The Persuaders did this song, and then Rod Stewart recorded it.

  • The Persuaders took Rod Stewart to school...and you know what? he needs to go back. I DON'T THINK HE LEARNED THE FIRST TIME!

  • omg they sang at my grand ma b day in 2003

  • I like this version the best, i remember it being played on FM radio, the soul session with jive man Curits Pooler.

  • lololololol this is elevator music nap time

  • In all due respect Micro, this is really a hard topic for comments.I see what you mean by the tone of this song. But remmember this is a Soul and RB BALLAD originally.Rod is Rock and so was his version, which is more upbeat.I guess it depends on what you prefer. You have your right also!

  • Rod Stewart didn't ruin this anything like Phil Collins ruined "You Can't Hurry Love". In fact, he took this group's and Maxi Priest's to school. Whether they learned anything is unknown. Rod is the man.

  • GREAT!!!!!!!! Absolutely a masterpiece.. And I agree with 5291791 - Rod Stewart's version sucks. Maxi Priest did a pretty good job on this in the early 90s (if you're into that cheesy synthesized early 90s sound).

  • well done, the ending with the singing in the round is smooth

  • This song was destroyed by the stupid version by Rod Stewart

  • I think the Sad part about this re-make ,is that a lot of Rock Fans,do not even know that Rods version was a remake! He did a terrible job on it even though I love RoD! From him I just expected better!! Maxi Priest at least gave a better effort though!I think they do not understand that this is not only an RB song it is also a Soul song! You have to be Soulful doing this stuff! Bring back the Soul Music Section when doing Music Awards! Great comment!

  • I like Rod's rendition. I like Maxi Priest's rendition. I like them all. This is a song that is hard to mess up.

  • I respect yours Lady!! Great comment!

  • Camera Obscura also did a really great version of this song.

  • Very talented 70's soul band and the best rendition of the song! Truly a delight to see these guys represented on YOUTUBE!
