  • Teaching classes in African-American research has been good for him personally as a Tennessee native, he said, because it has put him in touch with his own roots. "Tracing an African-American family and tracing a poor, white family in the South are actually a lot alike."

  • "It can be quite intimidating the first time you come, but I was addicted after that," he said. "When the need for African-American research popped up, I filled that need too."

He said the experience was not what he expected. "The guys have been good to deal with, very polite. Sometimes, the men will say, 'Give me something to do; I want to help out.' They go out of their way to make me feel comfortable. That means a lot to all the volunteers."

  • The volunteers need not be family history experts, but one of them, Dwight Radford, is a professional genealogist with 25 years experience. Not a member of the Church, Mr. Radford was invited by a volunteer at the prison to come give a lecture on Irish research.

  • Much of the success of the center is due to the volunteers who come and interact with the inmates, Elder Lunt said. The center is open seven days a week in three shifts, the first one beginning at 8 a.m. and the last one ending at 8 in the evening. But the number of inmates who may use the center is limited by the number of volunteers who come.

  • mormons own polygamy.

They lie about it's doctrine, It is practiced in their temples for eternal marriage. Lie upon lie. They defend the Smiths's practice of multiple wives , like Smith, they deny it's doctrine and practice. Polygamy is what brought Smith undone> They don't tell you of the rage wherein Smith destroyed the Nauvoo compositor because it printed the sordid details of Smiths secret affairs that even his wife Emma was lied to about and kept in the dark.

  • @kramd1 Time for you to remove that massive 2x8 of a beam in your own eye before you try to remove the dust mote from anyone elses. There is nothing taught, expounded or preached concerning following Plural Marriage / Polygamy in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You might be confused with the FLDS Church in Colorado City, because they are apostates.

  • @ScottKin Time for the LDS to cut the crap. Mormons practise the principles of polygamy to this day in their temples. Celestial marriage I think you call it; wherein a man can have as many wives as he likes in the hereafter and women are only to have one husband in the eternal real. If your argument is that it is not practised like Smith did on earth anymore, so todays LDS are not seen as polygamist, why then is it still permissible in temple for the hereafter. ?

  • @kramd1 God will sort that all out in the end on the other side, especially in the case of divorces, etc. Celestial Marriage, since the cesation of Plural Marriage, is one man, one woman - that's it. It's sad that you've been woefully deceived about this topic. Any members of the Church who attempt to practice Plural Marriage / Polygamy are ex-communicated. The apostate FLDS (Colorado City, Arizona) are *not* members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and are *not* "Mormons.

  • @ScottKin Why then is it permissible in the temple marriages for a man to have more than one wife ? Is the principle only temporarily suspended to earthly practices b'cause of LDS and US government treaty ( cesation as say ).

The church still teaches plural marriage as a divine privilege for the celestial kingdom.

LDS & FLDS are mormons ? they all believe in Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith practised polygamy as did Brigham Young and many of the members and splinter groups.

  • @ScottKin To say mormons don't believe in polygamy is a lie and you know it.

  • Ana told the sisters, "Please keep teaching me. I promise I'm paying attention now. I know that you two were sent here by God tonight, and I know that what you are teaching me is true. What else can I read in the Book of Mormon? I promise I'll read it

  • The ranking is based on "yield," the percentage of accepted students who actually enroll at that university.

BYU and Harvard have danced around the No. 1 spot for the last three years, said BYU spokesman Todd Hollingshead. The first year it was a tie, and then BYU fell to second and this year it pulled ahead.

  • ah your prophet Joseph smith practiced and so did Brigham Young...and they said you were cursed if you didn't either

  • Tis true. It was taught as a doctrine for salvation at one point.

  • you are mistaken about JS, the Prophet!
