Personally I believe that no matter how long we are there, we cannot fix their problems. How can we help them in any lasting way if we do not respect and understand their culture and language. True, rangers dont deploy for more than 3-6 months at one time. There's no way he has done only two tours as a ranger and has equaled out at 21 months. Not possible.

I believe that this "war" was necessary. Saddam Hussein was evil man that needed to be taken out, also I know a few soldiers who were deployed over in Iraq and they all said that the Iraqi people are scared and want help but they are too afraid of the Taliban to work with our troops. Now that Osama Bin Laden is dead and his supposed replacement is was killed TODAY I think (Pray) this "war" will end soon.

I believe that this "war" was necessary. Saddam Hussein was evil man that needed to be taken out, also I know a few soldiers who were deployed over in Iraq and they all said that the Iraqi people are scared and want help but they are too afraid of the Taliban to work with our troops. Good for them they want to avenge the fallen, but in reality, this war shouldn't have taken place. The soldiers should have withdrawn years ago, and for him to go back for me is just sad. @USMartyrMachine119 Wrong on three counts. We're just getting worse at fighting real wars. COIN and hearts and minds is taking over. I don't remember trying to win over Dresden or Tokyo after we firebombed them causing more casualties than the two nukes we dropped. They don't seem to be terrorizing us now. COIN has never worked at any point of history. Total war does.
