help, i got radeon 6770 my montior's natural resolution is 1366x768, when i chose that reso it all blacked out and now i cannot use d2multires because i cannot see anything,just a black page :(
@ShotgunZodiax There have only been like 5 people out of all of these replies that it hasn't worked for. I can't help you if you don't mention what it is that isn't working either. Common mistakes:
1. You have D2 patched up to 1.13, reinstall and manually download and install 1.12 from blizzards site.
2. You did not change the info in the plugy.ini file.
3. It worked, you just haven't gone into options while IN GAME to change the resolution higher than 800x600 which the home screen of diablo is
@Metax87 I can't help you with those kind of errors as I am not a programmer nor did I create these programs, I just use them. I'm sorry but I've never had these errors. :(
I figured it out ... The reason of that error is the usage of Glide-wrapper.Simply open the "VideoTest" and make sure you make it to Direct3D or Ddraw2D . And it should be fine.Glide isnt compatible with Multires.
@Regunayer hey man, after you extraced all the stuff, go to the diablo 2 folder, and click D2MultiResGame.exe, then game starts and you can choose up to 1920x1080, though the graphics was a fucking up a bit at highest, but when i lowered it, it was good.
@Regunayer oh yeah, just to make sure, he mention it in the description here too, it needs to be patch 1.12, which means you gotta do a clean reinstall, then download 1.12 for LoD expansion.
@just2stoned well then it doesnt work. neither high res or plugy. I could get median xl to work, but I didnt like that very much, so uninstalled the game and installed it again, but those two doesnt seem to work for me

I extracted the files into the directory and loaded the MultiResGame application and every time i go to video options "resoltion" isn't there and the only difference is that the lighting quality option doesn't show whether its on "high" "medium" or "low" anymore. OS is Windows 7. Anyone know why maybe? I've only patched up to 1.12
@XBLAQPHYREX As you can see in the video, you have to be in the game to change the resolution. Any resolution your monitor is capable of will be listed. Caution is needed for some odd resolutions as they may not work right. Use your own discretion to choose which works best.
1. D2MultiRes is build for 1.12 version of D2 LoD, not 1.13! (so if you want all of this working, use 1.12 patch (median is compatible with 1.10 - 1.13 and plugY supports more versions aswell)
2. for windowed mode, create a shortcut for PlugY.exe and run it with param -w

@Predator000099 Torrent a copy of the game disk. It's not very big if I remember, maybe 3-400mb. Install it via an image and use your key, should work just fine. I don't have high speed internet like that or I'd upload an image.
@demonwolfdawg DSL, Cable, Fiber and all the good ISP's are not available where I live. Verizon 3G has a tower 5 miles away that I use. Basically, a 1mb line for $60/month. Can play MMO's and a few racing games, but that's it with an average 150ms latency. So, to answer your question, no, I don't play CoD or any FPS games on dial-up, but close to it.

Thanks for the video. Hi res work for me. Only with version 1.12 (and probably bellow) . But in version 1.13 didn't run. I wonder if the make a fix for v.1.13. @NYtzaa you can't as far as I know. Multires only works for 1.12 and below. I may be wrong though.
Solution: Reinstall D2, go to Blizzard website and download 1.12 patch manually, install multires (and others if desired), enjoy game. That's the only way you will be able to use it unless they have multires for 1.13.
@toforto3 You either need to point installation to where you installed it, or you did not install it. Also, this requires Diablo 2 AND the expansion (Lord of Destruction). If you didn't install the xpack than it might say that. Those are the only things I can think of. Read the plugy instructions again. My install path is always C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II (x86 is 64bit operating system. If you have normal 32bit, it'll be just \Program Files)
VERY important question here!!! I already got all that stuff and it works very smooth BUT i want to make and post the movie but I cant find any way to record d2 window :/ how did you do it since fraps can record only fullscreen d2 and multires cent work in fullscreen... ;(? Note that Im using 1440:900 res which sadly is panoramic screen.
@Ye7i I honestly can't remember which program I used to make this, it was either GameCam or fraps. I just tried my Gamecam and it did not work at all. There aren't many programs that record in game video so it has to be fraps. (I used a cracked copy of it to get rid of the silly 30sec of recording bullshit)
When i run respec tool and go to my diablo 2 folder to load a character it shows nothing in the folder ??? And i have a ladder character lvl38.Is it because its a ladder character ? Does the tool work for ladder characters or is it because im MedianXL Omega 1.13 ? Please help.
I can't get it to work! I followed the instructions step by step exactly as how it was explained and still couldn't get it to work. I got it to run but there is no "resolution" option in the video option. I will keep on trying until I get it to work. If I somehow manage to get it to work, I will post back here how I manage, otherwise I gave up. I patch it with 1.12a and did the steps but nothing. I will keep trying...
Apparently no one ever mentioned this would only work for LOD but if you're trying to get this to work on the regular D2 it won't work. The next best thing to get it to work for D2 is to change one simple registry and it will work. Keep everything that you've done so far up until this point. Follow the steps precisely as follows:
(1) Run the D2MultiResGame exe that comes with the patch.
(2) It should start the game and generate a log file.
(5) See the number after "Mode:". Remember the number for the resolution you want to run it in. Example, if I wanted to run it in 1920x1080, so 15 was my number.
(6) Run regedit, search for "D2RMRes". (Start->click on search->type in "regedit")
(7) In the Register Editor click on Edit->Find type in D2RMRes.
(8) Double click on D2RMRes to change its value to that number you remembered. The number is a decimal number.
(9) Close regedit, and rerun the D2MultiResGame exe.
(10) Once you get into the game itself, you should have your nice new resolution. Note: game should take 3 to 4 minutes to load. While waiting you can look at the upper left hand corner of your screen to see some hexadecimal numbers flickering. It should start from all upper case alphabets to lower case alphabets with some other strange notations in between.
(12) Once in game, click on Options->Video Options->Perspective Off to get rid of any glitches.
And there you have it. The game will now look exactly like how it should be, with higher quality resolution.
Note that before you actually begin playing the game, while at the game menu screen it will still look like it was before you did anything. Not to worry, this is how it should look. Once you load your game the screen resolution will change depending on what decimal number you gave it. GL HF.
@VersionBest Thanks for figuring this one out. Like I've replied before, I am not the author of any of these programs and did not run into hardly any trouble getting it all working. If I haven't experienced it and fixed it I can't help others. Many people found my steps to be spot on and had little issue with it while others didn't. Anyway, thanks for your comments!
hey man, im runnin windows 7, before i did the mod.. the game was laggy. idk why. my comp isnt slow. but very laggy in game. after resmod, i got the res i wanted 1400x900. loooks soo amazing! thnx. but. its still super laggy! any help? and advice?
@warzonegamer Game just wasn't designed for all the kick ass hardware most of us have. I do 1600x1200 max even though I can run crysis at damn near full graphics (30+fps= normal) at 30ish fps. Our cards more than likely do not support the graphics type this game was designed for. It always works in 2D at least.
@warzonegamer I believe you can, just hope you have your install file(s) copied for reinstall, cause that may and probably will happen at some point, need a reinstall that is.
There are many folks who can't get any of these to work, to them I apologize. However, I did not create these programs, I only use them. I did not run into many of these issues when I did it so I really couldn't say why you can't get it to work.
There was a lot of trial and error on my part to get them to cooperate with each other. Best advice I can tell you is to try 1 program at a time. Get 1 to work before adding the other. Many ppls mistakes are from not having the right versions though.
@200sa150 sorry I'm late in a reply, but I did not make these programs, I only used them. I don't know what every error is or how to fix them. I've tried helping some others with their issues, some I helped, some I didn't. I'm afraid I don't know this one.
All I can tell ya is that I had to delete and redo everything a few times before I got it right, which is what led me to making this clip. The only time I got unhandled exceptions was after install and playing for a bit.
@weirdmage When you install PlugY 9.0, you are prompted with a 'Choose Components" list of checkboxes. At the bottom of this list is a check box for "D2gfx.dll Patcher (advanced users only). You should put a check in it and install it.
I haven't run into this problem before but to my understanding this should fix your D2gfx.dll issue, that's why it's there. Give that a shot.
@blinkSilenc3 I think you do. I think i remember something about them introducing 800x600 resolution with the expansion, and some other things of course. Try to google it though, I can't say 100% yes or no.
the only way i can get this to work is i have to double click D2MultiResGame.Exe then open the game normal and a thing pops up saying i cant run d2 twice but the one that IS open MultiRes works and most of the time the color is fucked up and i can get the color to work by opening screen resolution on desktop but most of the time it takes like 4 trys opening that window
@PoisonMako haven't heard that one yet. I really didn't have that much trouble getting all of these to cooperate when I first tried them. The only thing that I had trouble with, which I mention in the vid, Is the plugy.ini file. If I screwed up something too bad I just uninstalled D2 including wiping the registry, and then using a fresh install. This was all back in 1.12 patch which I still use as there is no reason to jump to 1.13. The links should still work for the files I use.
I do everything like you said but it isn't working. I started PlugY but nothing happen and when I look at log file. It said "Failed to load library : D2MultiRes.dll". I'm using PlugY 10 for 1.13.
@chienthan189 but are you using a 1.13 version of MultiRes or has that been updated to 1.13. There is absolutely no advantage to go from 1.12 to 1.13 unless you are playing vanilla D2 on B.Net. If you are trying to use these on B.Net than I'm glad it doesn't work, that's cheating.
Simple answer, Reinstall, manually patch it to 1.12, follow the guide, It will work.
1. The high resolution mod will only show itself if you enter a game. The main menu will not be in high res, only in game. Also, there was a new patch from Blizzard, may want to google for a 1.13 version of HighResMod.
2. PlugY doesn't work. Probably due to the recent patch from Blizzard. Google for a 1.13 PlugY version and simply use it in place of 1.12 like in this video.
3. If using MedianXL with these, you WILL lose your original characters!
@Kuczerski MultiRes will NOT work for 1.13 patch unless it has been updated. PlugY and and Median XL are updated for 1.13 but if your MultiRes isn't than it will not work. I start my diablo game with the PlugY executable btw. Not really sure how I else I could help as it's all in the video... There are other guides I think on youtube If mine just won't work for anyone.
@StreetStar5 also a very late reply, but for the benefits of others:
I use 3D mode with the perspective option off. I believe it's just the old nature of the game to not truely work like it should on windows 7 64 bit. I tried using various 3DFX GLide wrappers with no visible improvements at all. Most of the time the game wouldn't even launch. I went back to good old 3D. My rig is so overpowered to run this yet it doesn't really run all that smoothly past 1600x1200 resolution.
@4sostrander multiplayer in any form I don't believe will work if using multires or medianXL. None of these however are allowed on closed B.Net. I think it's possible for LAN play however using MedianXL, but don't quote me on that.
@Hyper1ink they had a very long time to do that already don't you think? The 1.13 patch will likely be the last patch and/or update Diablo 2: LoD will ever recieve. Sure we don't have a release date for 3 yet, but I don't see anything else coming for the game.
@just2stoned They had a very long time to implement respecialization ... and they did. It would be no big deal for Blizzard to add at least one higher resolution officially.
@Yonabrother Nowadays, people have monitors capable of high resolutions. Diablo 2 had a MAX resolution of 800x600. If you were to try and play the game on say my monitor (24" HDTV) the game will look really bad and old. The mod makes it so it fits many of today's monitors can run the game at a higher resolution, thus making it look like it did way back when, just on a larger scale.
@lordmason1 The links I provided are to the 1.12a version of diablo. I am not aware of any updates for 1.13 version. There really isn't anything worth updating to 1.13 for anyway if you are playing single player (which you should be as these mods shouldn't be used on b.net).

@Predator000099 Torrent a copy of the game disk. It's not very big if I remember, maybe 3-400mb. Install it via an image and use your key, should work just fine. I don't have high speed internet like that or I'd upload an image.

@demonwolfdawg DSL, Cable, Fiber and all the good ISP's are not available where I live. Verizon 3G has a tower 5 miles away that I use. Basically, a 1mb line for $60/month. Can play MMO's and a few racing games, but that's it with an average 150ms latency. So, to answer your question, no, I don't play CoD or any FPS games on dial-up, but close to it.

Thanks for the video. Hi res work for me. Only with version 1.12 (and probably bellow) . But in version 1.13 didn't run. I wonder if the make a fix for v.1.13. Because many people are with this version. I want to play local net game with hamachi, I know that I'll be banned if use this with battle net. If someone know hi res patch v 1.13. @NYtzaa you can't as far as I know. Multires only works for 1.12 and below. I may be wrong though.
Solution: Reinstall D2, go to Blizzard website and download 1.12 patch manually, install multires (and others if desired), enjoy game. That's the only way you will be able to use it unless they have multires for 1.13.

@toforto3 You either need to point installation to where you installed it, or you did not install it. Also, this requires Diablo 2 AND the expansion (Lord of Destruction). If you didn't install the xpack than it might say that. Those are the only things I can think of. Read the plugy instructions again. My install path is always C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II (x86 is 64bit operating system. If you have normal 32bit, it'll be just \Program Files)

VERY important question here!!! I already got all that stuff and it works very smooth BUT i want to make and post the movie but I cant find any way to record d2 window :/ how did you do it since fraps can record only fullscreen d2 and multires cent work in fullscreen... ;(? Note that Im using 1440:900 res which sadly is panoramic screen.

@Ye7i I honestly can't remember which program I used to make this, it was either GameCam or fraps. I just tried my Gamecam and it did not work at all. There aren't many programs that record in game video so it has to be fraps. (I used a cracked copy of it to get rid of the silly 30sec of recording bullshit)

I can't get it to work! I followed the instructions step by step exactly as how it was explained and still couldn't get it to work. I got it to run but there is no "resolution" option in the video option. I will keep on trying until I get it to work. If I somehow manage to get it to work, I will post back here how I manage, otherwise I gave up. I patch it with 1.12a and did the steps but nothing. I will keep trying...

Apparently no one ever mentioned this would only work for LOD but if you're trying to get this to work on the regular D2 it won't work. The next best thing to get it to work for D2 is to change one simple registry and it will work. Keep everything that you've done so far up until this point. Follow the steps precisely as follows:
(1) Run the D2MultiResGame exe that comes with the patch.
(2) It should start the game and generate a log file.

(3) You can't change the res in-game in a non-LoD Diablo II because there is no resolution button, so exit the game.
(4) Look in the D2MultiResLog.txt log file (in your Diablo II folder). It should have a bunch of resolutions it found. Something like this:
Added Display Mode: 10: 640 x 480
Added Display Mode: 11: 1280 x 800
Added Display Mode: 12: 1280 x 960
Added Display Mode: 13: 1280 x 1024
Added Display Mode: 14: 1680 x 1050
Added Display Mode: 15: 1920 x 1080

(5) See the number after "Mode:". Remember the number for the resolution you want to run it in. Example, if I wanted to run it in 1920x1080, so 15 was my number.
(6) Run regedit, search for "D2RMRes". (Start->click on search->type in "regedit")
(7) In the Register Editor click on Edit->Find type in D2RMRes.
(8) Double click on D2RMRes to change its value to that number you remembered. The number is a decimal number.
(9) Close regedit, and rerun the D2MultiResGame exe.

(10) Once you get into the game itself, you should have your nice new resolution. Note: game should take 3 to 4 minutes to load. While waiting you can look at the upper left hand corner of your screen to see some hexadecimal numbers flickering. It should start from all upper case alphabets to lower case alphabets with some other strange notations in between.

(11) Rerun D2VidTst and select Direct3D.

(12) Once in game, click on Options->Video Options->Perspective Off to get rid of any glitches.
And there you have it. The game will now look exactly like how it should be, with higher quality resolution.
Note that before you actually begin playing the game, while at the game menu screen it will still look like it was before you did anything. Not to worry, this is how it should look. Once you load your game the screen resolution will change depending on what decimal number you gave it. GL HF.

hey man, im runnin windows 7, before i did the mod.. the game was laggy. idk why. my comp isnt slow. but very laggy in game. after resmod, i got the res i wanted 1400x900. loooks soo amazing! thnx. but. its still super laggy! any help? and advice?

@warzonegamer Game just wasn't designed for all the kick ass hardware most of us have. I do 1600x1200 max even though I can run crysis at damn near full graphics (30+fps= normal) at 30ish fps. Our cards more than likely do not support the graphics type this game was designed for. It always works in 2D at least.

There are many folks who can't get any of these to work, to them I apologize. However, I did not create these programs, I only use them. I did not run into many of these issues when I did it so I really couldn't say why you can't get it to work.
There was a lot of trial and error on my part to get them to cooperate with each other. Best advice I can tell you is to try 1 program at a time. Get 1 to work before adding the other. Many ppls mistakes are from not having the right versions though.

@200sa150 sorry I'm late in a reply, but I did not make these programs, I only used them. I don't know what every error is or how to fix them. I've tried helping some others with their issues, some I helped, some I didn't. I'm afraid I don't know this one.
All I can tell ya is that I had to delete and redo everything a few times before I got it right, which is what led me to making this clip. The only time I got unhandled exceptions was after install and playing for a bit.

With Pluggy 10, don't change Library. Instead put DllToLoad=D2MultiRes.dll in GENERAL section as well as ActivePlugin=2. Did it for me.

@weirdmage When you install PlugY 9.0, you are prompted with a 'Choose Components" list of checkboxes. At the bottom of this list is a check box for "D2gfx.dll Patcher (advanced users only). You should put a check in it and install it.
I haven't run into this problem before but to my understanding this should fix your D2gfx.dll issue, that's why it's there. Give that a shot.

TO EVERYONE: Use Official Patch v1.12. Use PlugY 9.0, you CAN use the latest Median XL patch. also the Latest D2MultiRes patch.

the only way i can get this to work is i have to double click D2MultiResGame.Exe then open the game normal and a thing pops up saying i cant run d2 twice but the one that IS open MultiRes works and most of the time the color is fucked up and i can get the color to work by opening screen resolution on desktop but most of the time it takes like 4 trys opening that window
there a way to fix this?

@PoisonMako haven't heard that one yet. I really didn't have that much trouble getting all of these to cooperate when I first tried them. The only thing that I had trouble with, which I mention in the vid, Is the plugy.ini file. If I screwed up something too bad I just uninstalled D2 including wiping the registry, and then using a fresh install. This was all back in 1.12 patch which I still use as there is no reason to jump to 1.13. The links should still work for the files I use.

I do everything like you said but it isn't working. I started PlugY but nothing happen and when I look at log file. It said "Failed to load library : D2MultiRes.dll". I'm using PlugY 10 for 1.13.

@chienthan189 but are you using a 1.13 version of MultiRes or has that been updated to 1.13. There is absolutely no advantage to go from 1.12 to 1.13 unless you are playing vanilla D2 on B.Net. If you are trying to use these on B.Net than I'm glad it doesn't work, that's cheating.
Simple answer, Reinstall, manually patch it to 1.12, follow the guide, It will work.

If you cannot get this to work:
1. The high resolution mod will only show itself if you enter a game. The main menu will not be in high res, only in game. Also, there was a new patch from Blizzard, may want to google for a 1.13 version of HighResMod.
2. PlugY doesn't work. Probably due to the recent patch from Blizzard. Google for a 1.13 PlugY version and simply use it in place of 1.12 like in this video.
3. If using MedianXL with these, you WILL lose your original characters!

@Kuczerski MultiRes will NOT work for 1.13 patch unless it has been updated. PlugY and and Median XL are updated for 1.13 but if your MultiRes isn't than it will not work. I start my diablo game with the PlugY executable btw. Not really sure how I else I could help as it's all in the video... There are other guides I think on youtube If mine just won't work for anyone.

I use 3D mode with the perspective option off. I believe it's just the old nature of the game to not truely work like it should on windows 7 64 bit. I tried using various 3DFX GLide wrappers with no visible improvements at all. Most of the time the game wouldn't even launch. I went back to good old 3D. My rig is so overpowered to run this yet it doesn't really run all that smoothly past 1600x1200 resolution.

@4sostrander multiplayer in any form I don't believe will work if using multires or medianXL. None of these however are allowed on closed B.Net. I think it's possible for LAN play however using MedianXL, but don't quote me on that.

@Hyper1ink they had a very long time to do that already don't you think? The 1.13 patch will likely be the last patch and/or update Diablo 2: LoD will ever recieve. Sure we don't have a release date for 3 yet, but I don't see anything else coming for the game.

@Yonabrother Nowadays, people have monitors capable of high resolutions. Diablo 2 had a MAX resolution of 800x600. If you were to try and play the game on say my monitor (24" HDTV) the game will look really bad and old. The mod makes it so it fits many of today's monitors can run the game at a higher resolution, thus making it look like it did way back when, just on a larger scale.

@lordmason1 The links I provided are to the 1.12a version of diablo. I am not aware of any updates for 1.13 version. There really isn't anything worth updating to 1.13 for anyway if you are playing single player (which you should be as these mods shouldn't be used on b.net).
