Yes Halo was sold to Microsoft. Halo Reach will be the last Bungie made halo. Bungie says they want to make a different game one like halo but not. Halo will still be made by microsoft. But what a way to end it. Reach.

When bungie left they had to give microsoft something to profit off of otherwise they wouldn't let them go, Bungie gave Microsoft the halo franchise, they can make more installements to the franchise (Halo Reach) but they cannot legally make a direct sequel to Halo 3.
Basically to tend the argument all together, there will not be a Halo 4 but there will be other installments in the series
