@70electricwarrior1 None of the band members were top musicians technically speaking, but very innovative and creative.T.Rex were basically Bolan&Finn, because of their sheer stage presence and charisma.Their way of dressing was trendsetting at the time and Marc Bolan was more of a poet than a musician,though his music was very unique and simply magical. Their live performances lived more than anything else from their show rather than musical qualities. That's why MF was essential !

@atzengruber Steve Curry was an outstanding bass player, Bill Legend a good drummer, and Marc Bolan, live and away from the studio was an accomplished guitar player. I saw T.REX live in the 70's, with no Mickey Finn and I was blown away by Bolan's guitar playing. Mickey Finn was a face, listen to the many bootleg and non studio cd's that are available and you can hear Steve Curry or Bill Legend inputting to the sound, Finn may has well not have been there.

Marc performs well, but IF he was lipsynching, he would do a better job, and when he made errors it would show in his face. My feeling is that hasty, budget concious tv producers considered this the best performance on the day, and splced it to what they considered the best vocal performance. So im in my car listening to Sirius radio and this song comes on. Never heard of this band before, next thing i know im buying 3 cd's off ebay. Marc died before i was born. He was way too young. I know he was enfluenicial (the whole glam rock thing) but I cant even image the impact he would have had just living a couple more years. This stuff is great!
