  • Results of valid, empirical observations of the effects of learning styles on students are clear. Teachers use of learning style information has no effect, or sometimes a harmful effect on learning. Clearly, folks behave unethically when they take peoples time and/or money and dont provide any evidence on whether an investment in learning styles is a just use of scarce school resources.

So Id challenge the person in this video, Can you offer any valid evidence that it actually help kids?

I agree with what you are saying up to a point. There are many unvalidated measures of learning style, the application of which is likely to be a waste of time and other resources. There are, however, others for which there is good empirical evidence of predictive validity. A number of useful evaluations of these instruments are available in the literature.

  • Jet,

Thanks for the info on these measures. Its interesting to hear of predictive validity since its the heart of the matter. Before I go searching the lit, do you know "off the top of your head" what was predicted by these measures? Did they predict the identification of learning styles by another measure, or did their instructional use predict learning? I'd be very interested to know. Thanks

  • very nice from you

    thank you
