The Lobby map does not save your Steam Cloud since you are not using Steam, so you will have to manually restart by exiting back to the Main Menu and going back to Step 1, but at Step 2, replace "mp_coop_start" with the first map of the Chapter you wish to play, such as:
@GUKingOfHeart You can't just host the game and have your friend connect to you, it doesn't work like that. Your friend will have to connect to you first, then you host the game. Usually Hamachi or other LAN-based program is a safer way since you're not putting up your IP for grabs and put your computer in danger.

It's pretty obvious that my guide talks about a pirated version of Portal 2 which cannot be linked to Steam, so that's out of the question, and you can't connect to the Valve server for the same reason why you can't be linked to Steam; you're using a pirated version.

PROTIP TO PLAY WITH OTHER PEOPLE-
You need:
1) Hamachi (or some other LAN-based program that has a separate LAN server)
2) A friend
3) Portal 2 (obviously), dev console (shown in video), and the map list (description).
Steps:
1) Have your friend connect to your LAN-IP (given to you from Hamachi/{your program}).
2) After he does this (confirm he has), use the dev console:
map mp_coop_start
3) This will bring you to the lobby. Proceed with the game.
