This could do simple computing only whereas CPU is way faster in more complicated tasks in whose GPU would have to work tens, hundreds times longer. Not to forget mentioning about applications made for the GPU. Its not like, hey I have nvidia video converter so do my system boots up faster. Same with HDDs vs SSDs For the video conversion, its perfect though. Now wait till Larrabee comes out. Nvidia is allready worried much about how powerfull itll be. I have GTX 295 and version 1.1.1 will NOT work in SLI mode. Not sure what this kid is talking about. You have to select either GPU 0 or 1. I remember previous 1.1.0 requires you to disable SLI

Nice concept software though, just like Photoshop CS4. Badaboom 1.1.1 is not ready.

i7 has 4 cores and 8 threads gtx 295 has 2 single core gpu's, 2 cores less than an i7. The 295 gtx may have 480 SHADERS, but they are not used in this video encoding.

Actually, the Badaboom indeed uses Shaders, or Stream Processors, or Parallel processors, whatever you like to call them.

They are dummer version of CPUs, being capable of doing simple tasks, mainly calculations. perfect for this job, and physics.

A GTX 285 will beat an i7 hands down in video encoding.

A i7 has 8 threads for parallel processing. A GTx 280 has 240 threads.

A GTx 285 has over 1000GFLOPS of power. An i7 has less than 1/10 of that.

are u ok man? you didnt get what i ment. your problem. a x86 based os cant run without intels, vias or amds cpu. even if, badaboom would not replace cpus performance. nvidia does something like 1+1+1+1 and cpus do 2+3+7+9+1+4+6. see why badaboom looks so fast? but it does work with number and applications made for simple computing.cpu does advanced computing and handles OS to run at the time,cooperating with many applications. nvidia gpu just makes one task at a time.even if faster doesnt matter

No the 295's cores are more or less a ybrid of the 280 and 260. It has 400 shader cores(IE like two 280s) for the cards in total but the memory speed and quantity is that of the 260.

Well I been getting anoyyed ComputerTv aint showed a GTX295 yet but now i've seen name of one to start guess it would help if i watched live but hey. Only prob is i see with GTX295 SLI you actually lose or gain 10 or 20 fraps on some games Left 4 dead loses about 35+ fraps when you add a secound GTX295 so says the beachmarks on tomhardware i think. But the quad drivers are only just new so give it time.
