But sampling can be traced back to Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, Afrika Bambaataa, and DJ Kool Herc. Back in the early days of hip hop when the DJ was the center of the show. They would play vinyl at parties and they noticed that people really got funky with certain parts in a song. now called "breaks" they started focusing on these drum/instrument breaks.

How do you take the sample and make it into chords like that?

@NosoCOMINSOON haha an MPC is more expensive than Maschine I believe (Maschine is about 500, an MPC around 600-800), I could be wrong though. MPC's are actually pretty old, Maschine is a bit newer and has some more knobs. I'd go with the maschine, cuz its around the same pricerange and u get a shitload of samples with it, plus some software :D

I have a MPC2000, had an SP12 Turbo, still have an EMU ESI32 but nowadays all the stuff I use is software based. I have a lotta love for Native Instruments & their products & Maschine is the shit and makes life a lot easier when making beats. I'm not one of these cats who hates technology, I embrace it. I used to love my MPC and will never part with it(only cause of nostalgia) Akai have done shit all in developing the MPC brand, it was revolutionary n d 90s but there's a new revolution going on!
