Ah, Nationwide. The programme that brought you the skateboarding duck, and the beer drinking slug. It was the prototype of today's 'viral' junk. Youtube before it's time.
The film 'Little Miss Sunshine' showed some absolute horrors competing in the pageant the family went to - how come the beauty pageants featuring little girls didn't get all the hullaballoo Mini-Pops got?
I wish they'd make more programmes like that and run a few themed evenings nowadays...TV was so much better in the 80s and 90s when I received only 5 channels...where has it all gone so terribly wrong?
Of course all of these programs still exist in the archives while footage of the first moon landing and a big chunk of 60's Doctor Who got junked. Thanks BBC.
What's awful is that since this was made TV has gotten worse. All these programmes were conceived with good intentions, the humour comes from the failure to produce quality TV; now TV is deliberately downmarket. Noel's House Party for instance was a rubbish programme done superbly well. TV Hell 2010 would only feature work done since 1992.
@mintyspace Funnily enough, Minipops was one of Channel 4's biggest early successes, apart from Brookside. It got 2 million viewers in the days when hardly anyone watched C4. Whenever a clip is shown, they always show the girl dressed in a nighty singing about "making love", but most of the programme wasn't like that.
@mintyspace Couldn't believe seeing that one - and the makers trying to justify themselves saying they didn't see how it could be percieved wrongly. When I clicked this to see programmes that shouldn't have been made - didn't expect to see this and I think even this video should be removed as it is now showing what was taken off - even if small sections.
A was 'advice',featuring an extract from an interview former BBC Director General Lord Reith gave with Malcolm Muggeridge,"It's a potential social meance of the highest magnitude!".
i remember seeing the "egg-jumper" first time they aired it. i thought i'd dreamt it. shame they haven't included the bit at the end when the presenter tells him off for wasting their time!
This evening was hosted by Paul Merton and Angus Deaton. I was wondering do you have the last bit of the bit of the evening when Paul Merton is knocked down and returned back to TV Hell?

Say, anyone know what the letter 'A' was about? Seems like we've skipped a letter, since we start with 'B' in this video!

I like how Joanna Wyatt is an "ex-Minipopper". Then the "creator of the show" comes on and it's... Martin Wyatt. How did she ever get on?

Yeah, he pretty much created it for his daughter.
