Street poetry set to a beautiful melody. When was this recorded ? I'm from London and used to love his early music so much I missed New Jersey and never even been there! He transcends.
I don't know about the New York accent. Sounds like a Philadelphia guy to me. I'm not sure... but anyway, I was not there that night. I was at the other 2 and he didn't do Incident on 57 th Street on Friday and Saturday. This is his best song ever. I watch this video more than any other out there. It helps me cope with the fact that I wasn't there and I should have been.
yo zito dont worry about it when i saw him in new york and i heard the opening of backstreets i went nuts. u can hear me in the video of youtube going nuts also
I was there too. He's played at two of the last four shows i went to (5/23/09 at izod and 7/31/08 at giants stadium). I could see it a million more times without getting tired of it.
I was also at the Linc for this show and later downloaded the performance--your "Oh My God" exclamation always cracked me up--I was feeling the same enthusiasm a bit further back in the crowd...
On a related note, when Bruce is calling an audible, it's always a good sign for the audience when he calls out "Roy" to start the song...
Love the crowd joining in for the "Puerto Rican Jane..." verse
I've been lucky enough to get Incident 3 times, but all 3 have been Bruce solo on the piano. Incredible yes, but to get the full band version would have been the icing on the cake!
I've watched this video over and over again. It is just breathtaking. Considering that he almost never plays this song live it is a real treat and one can understand why the guy at the front of this tape screams out in pure joy. Just an amazing vintage piece of Springsteen's music. Well done agaim mc..........
I was at this show. And while I have been to many concerts, none has ever outperformed this show, night 3, August 11, 2003 in Philadelphia. It is the BEST concert I have ever witnessed.
i was there as well, and no doubt the best show i have ever seen,i saw bruce three other times, each one was amazing but not like this one.that night was magical.BRUCEEEEEEE
I think this songs gets ignored amongst Rosalita and the other great songs on Side 2 of The Wild, the Innocent, and the E-Street Shuffle, now 34 years old. Plus he rarely plays it. This is the first time I've ever seen a full band version. The acoustic version is almost too beautiful for words. It makes me want to cry because I'm alive in a world that contains such beauty. Thank God for Bruce Springsteen.
Has he done anything else since this album was released in 1973?
Oustanding version, Bruce looks old but the performance and his singing is admirable, juvenile - until just ten minutes ago I always felt the acoustic version was my favorite, now?... - Mr C3, I envy you this one, thank you again!!!
Can somebody post Bruce Springsteen's song "Lift me up" I would really love to view it and Limewire doesnt have it. I believe its on the Essential Album. A beautiful song.
Mr. C3 for President. Where should I send my donation? I was there on Sat night. This was from Monday night. I would have paid lots to have been there for this song, for it would have been worth the price of admisssion. My sister was there and knows not what she saw!
I was at this concert. I remember these guys rocked the house for 3 nonstop hours. We were completely speechless afterward. Thanks for posting!
