I love the country music, i love the byrds, i love this record, i'm not american, but this music is great, universal, impossible not to love it. i'm Sorry Bad english.

Sure thing, "Sweetheart" it was a total country album. What people fail to realise, was there was a few country-rock teasers on earlier Byrds albums. Then this one was total country, but the follow up albums, with Clarence White on board, was the when the Byrds developed the real country-rock sound.

Its odd that the only real country music was being played by hippy rockers.

I'm only 23 and for the past few years I've heard quite a bit about 'Sweetheart of the Rodeo' and I really have to say I was disappointed. I'm and devout fan of THE BAND and someone told me that "with 'Sweetheart' The Byrds invented country rock, not The Band." Nope. Country music, even if it's played by a rock band is still country music. With that being said it's a still a great album.

'Sweetheart...' fails as "country rock"; as country it succeeds tho. You want bona fide country rock? Go pick up 'From The Inside" by Poco, or Pure Prairie Leagues first (same title). Or early Mason Proffit...there's your seminal country-rock.
