my opinion, he is good. above average midfielders. what can he do that lampard cant do, or fletcher, gattuso, all these defense mids? he doesn't have that good of goal scoring record, not dangerous in the germany team, and really could do without him in chelsea with all them players. i guess he is a good utility player.

Ballack is good and he used to be world class. But his style of play doesn't fit in the Chelsea style of two holding midfielders and an attacking midfielder who is always Lampard.With Germany he has more freedom and less suffocation from heavyweights such as Essien, Lampard and Mikel!

With Germany he's better and it's evident. Maybe it's because he doesn't get as much freedom to roam around the pitch with class midfielders such as Cole, Lamps, Deco, so he has to play more of a defensive role. I think he'd be able to excel if he was ACM alone or with Lamps. I wish he was put into more important situations though like PK taker and regular free kick taker. He'd be way more effective and I still believe he's the best kicker on Chelsea. Drogs is good, but I prefer Ballack.
