I read the book. I loved the book. I saw the movie. The movie was better than the book. Sorry, but the art direction was simply incredible. They more than did justice to the book. The only main differences were Wybie (which wasn't a problem bc it made sense for him to be there), and the Garden (the cellar would have been to scary for kids, and the Garden was one of the most incredible parts of the movie)

@JuniorModder When I read the book I didn't understand why Coraline went into the cellar. The Other Mother suggested it and gave her the key, yet she still went in knowing that the Beldam wasn't gonna play fair. I liked the movie better than the book.

@phanpiggy Yes, the music was pretty fantastic and I t wasn't ... "horrible", but it TOTALLY changed SO much crap that was in the book that didn't need to be changed and it made me mad. I liked the book and thought it was perfect, but they had to go and add stuff (like that idiot Wybie) and take out stuff (like Coraline going into the the hatch in the floor and getting attacked by her other father) that didn't need to be changed!

@chichinclas there is a stop motion animation, and Tim Burton has nothing to do with Coraline. Neil Gaiman wrote the story and Henry Selick (who directed the Nightmare Before Xmas) directed it

I think that would be unnecessary. Laika and Henry Selick have shown that they are way more talented than Tim Burton, who is rather shown himself to be a hack. Coraline was way beyond anything Burton's done, as is.

Because everything since Ed Wood has been pretty terrible? I think he just got to be too successful too early, and he's scraped the bottom of his creative barrel clean. He hasn't had to fight for his vision at all, so he's been surpassed by the filmmakers who did.
